White House ups state support with thousands of ventilators, staff, equipment

As part of its response to the omicron surge, Biden administration officials in the last two weeks have distributed hundreds of thousands of pieces of protective equipment, ventilators and hundreds of health care staff to assist states and territories across the U.S., the White House COVID-19 response coordinator said Wednesday.

The recent surge in federal resources includes one million gloves, more than 340,000 face coverings and 40,000 hospital gowns, plus 2,100 personnel and thousands of ventilators, all sent to more than 30 states and territories.

White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Jeff Zients said Wednesday that the extra support is fully paid for by the federal government as the administration seeks to surge resources to hard-hit areas as cases of the omicron variant continue to increase daily.

The number of new cases in a single day topped 440,000 on Monday, with the daily average reaching more than 240,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

By claiming that it means the government has basically given up and decided to leave people to die as Reagan's government had done during the AIDS crisis.

One tweet expressing this sentiment, complete with a provocative photo, has almost 100k likes and around 300 comments, demonstrating that this argument may have some staying power despite being hugely inaccurate. Unfortunately, there's been little pushback in the comments.

The truth is that the government is simply trying its best to deal with a very dire and damn-near impossible situation. There is no comparison - the Biden Administration's response to COVID-19 is without a doubt light-years more competent and compassionate than Reagan's callous, bigotry-soaked response to the spread of AIDS. This article just emphasizes that fact.

selling or giving it away to other countries. And sending personnel. What a novel thought. Taking care of our people.

The main reason there's another run on supplies and treatments is due to the willingness of certain folks to get vaxed, social distance and wear masks. The overwhelming number of hospitalizations are due to unvaxed people getting sick.

Always blaming someone else. Always critical of the government but demanding government help when they need it. Never willing to vote Democratic because of their "hand outs".

Didn't they divert ventilators,
store them in a warehouse,
and sell them to the highest bidder?
