that's noted Progressive* Joe Rogan, and Tucker Carlson.
Swalwell skillfully turns the tables on the loser and not only gets him to apologize but finds out his identity to turn him into law enforcement.
This is all via twitter, so I'll post what I can. It's an amazing series of messages.

A man DMd I should be shot. For my familys safety, I asked Twitter for help IDing him. When Twitter fell short (thanks for trying!) I asked the guy his name (stringing him a bit) & why he threatened me. Meet Jeremy Marshall who told me he was radicalized by Tucker Carlson.

The other person he was radicalized by was Joe Rogan.
A few notes:
I engaged with this guy solely to learn as much as I could about his identify to share it with law enforcement.
I do not have any family in Canada, I was trying to get information about his business.
Here is the first tweet of the messages:

(11,744 posts)Rogan has long been known on the left as a gateway to the alt-right. He will occasionally push back on the stupidest of the alt-right, but he definitely leans that way.

(11,744 posts)What they lack in brain power, they make up for in confidence and willingness to become violent.
Pathetic, but potentially scary people.

(58,785 posts)If a person isn't nice, if he isn't a builder and doer, if he spends far more time attacking Democrats than promoting democratic ideals, IF HE LIES AND SMEARS ANYONE, he's a toxic poseur.

(11,744 posts)Like I said in my response, there are times when the focus is on him shutting down the more extreme and stupid elements of the Alt-Right on specific topics, but ultimately the man is a privileged, White, rich guy who has some pretty messed up views on how the world works. He is way too ignorant to have the reach and popularity that he does.
I know we can't and shouldn't call out other members but yeah, that one was odd.

(42,372 posts)is that they truly believe Swalwell or whoever else Rogan/Carlson/etc demonize are not actually human. As soon as Swalwell politely engaged him, the guy started saying, gee you seem like a really nice guy.
It is utterly bizarre.

(8,361 posts)And how dangerous people like Carlson and his gang can be for ratings and likely will not change.

(58,785 posts)hustled people into throwing progressivism under the tRump/Republican bus. The same ugly dogwhistles to appeal to the same negative emotions.
Interestingly, back then they had to be more subtle about pushing RW lies against the left. Now it's far more blatant and still sells. This joins many other signs suggesting that RW and LW anti-establishment populists are coming together. And spreading their poison through DU.

What you learn after 350 hours of Joe Rogan
An interview with a Media Matters researcher documenting Rogans views

Rogan is a veritable megaphone of right-wing lies, and when he is called out for peddling dangerous rhetoric, he shields himself from any accountability by claiming he should not be considered a respected source of information. He has also repeatedly praised Spotify for being a safe space for him as the platform has refused to do anything to quell the misinformation and hate on his show; Rogan once told a guest that anti-trans attacks are acceptable on his show, saying, You can say whatever you want. Were on Spotify.

I just wonder where the would-be alliance of Right and Left anti-establishment populism thinks it's going. They all become right-wingers who'll never vote for Democrats, seems to me. What's the point? The fantasy that right-wingers will vote for progressives because of class solidarity is ridiculous.

(58,785 posts)resentful passion that draws from all sides, including apolitical people too disengaged to identify right or left. Observers of the growth of authoritarian populism are very concerned.
I think the fact that Rogan can come out of hiding and show his real self, seemingly without worrying about repelling people who thought he wanted what they did, is another very ominous sign.
