When Amy Schneider was an eighth grader in Dayton, Ohio, her fellow students voted her most likely to appear on Jeopardy!
They underestimated her.
On Wednesday, Ms. Schneider, 42, an engineering manager from Oakland, Calif., became the first woman in the shows history to achieve 21 consecutive wins, surpassing Julia Collins, who had set the record of 20 wins in 2014.
I never dreamed of matching Julias streak, Ms. Schneider wrote on Twitter. Its hard to say how I felt: proud, dazed, happy, numb, all those things.

Ms. Schneider said her advice for anyone who wanted to replicate her success was just be curious.
She added: The way to know a lot of stuff is to want to know a lot of stuff.

(53,782 posts)it's the most by a woman. Women should not be satisfied with this.

(6,446 posts)each successive accomplishment is acknowledged. Then again, the numbers folk seem to have overrun sports altogether. I don't see this as misogyny per se... just an adoption of Sports "framing" on Jeopardy.

(9,956 posts)... there are areas where gender differences are appropriate in competition. "Jeopardy" contestant is not one of them.

(5,812 posts)It was getting sooooo close I was worried Amy would be defeated. Since it had been DVRed, at about two answers from the end of Double Jeopardy, I fast forwarded to Final Jeopardy.
She won again!!!!!
I adore her! I hope she becomes the all time biggest and longest running Jeopardy champ. Got out my strand of pearls to wear in my own small way to support her run.

(269,013 posts)She said she is very good at tests. She should add Jeopardy to that list.

(52,162 posts)and 10 games out of third, 16 out of 2nd, and well, 54 out of 1st. I could see her getting 2nd overall, as to 1st, that is a tall order.

She is a genius!
The best of all time, in my opinion. She has such a wide breadth of knowledge.

(27,813 posts)I want to play along and answer questions. I don't watch to keep track of someone's winning streak.
It used to be that Daily Doubles were a way to catch up. Now they seem to be a way for a contestant to build up an insurmountable lead. There are days when the second and third place contestants look demoralized. Who wants to watch that?
I hope they figure out how to fix it.
