. . . can't be . . . because the world's smartest meteorologist, Dr. D. J. Trump declared global warming to be a hoax.

The more heat/energy you pour into an engine, the faster it races. We're fueling a volatile climate system of extremes, constantly changing state. Fun times ahead.

In some places, it looks like the fire just skipped over some areas, while leveling others, much the way tornadoes do. I'm also a bit surprised to see how many trees were spared, although the video could be deceiving, in that regard. How awful.

I have a friend who lives just south of there. So far, he and his family are safe. Still, too close for comfort.

bit safer from recent wildfires. And while I've put out grassfires before and recall my father doing so in childhood, I'd never considered 110 mph winds with downed powerlines rendering apocalyptical destruction in such a short period of time.

With global warming, there is nowhere that is not at risk for some devastating and incomparable magnitude natural disasters. Nowhere.

Then again, the area has had a shade over an inch of rain since August I heard. Extreme droughts breed extreme fires.

when I visited with her. She now lives in Maine but recently told me that she is considering taking a job close to where she was living before. This takes my breath away; from the map I saw, parts of Lafayette may have burned.

Poor people; all their joy a few days ago, and there was no way that they could see this coming.

Thanks for posting this footage! Extremely heartbreaking! I just moved away from Lafayette a few months ago and as far as I have heard no damage there. So I hope that is correct.

It was so hard to realize that entire Target shopping center including Costco in Superior are gone. I loved that Target. My husband and I ate at many of the Louisville restaurants.

It is really hard for me to deal with this horrific disaster. My daughter and grandkids are still living in the area and are safe which is a relief.

There weren't many there then.

Back in the '90s a large multinational headquartered nearby was attempting to recruit an executive from the east. His wife was along for the trip to Colorado. In an attempt to impress the wife, the company arranged for them to stay in a model home in one of the new developments on the prairie. All went well until the wife awakened during the night to go to the bathroom, switched on the light, and saw a multitude of mice on the bedroom floor. It was fall, turning cold, and the little critters were seeking out the warmth of the house.

The recruitment failed.

They also have problems with prairie dogs, but there are solutions for that -
