(6,831 posts)How many red-states have lawless nooks in their hill 'n holler country or long, flat, lonely roads from nowhere to nobody knows? Places where corruption is the unwritten rule rather than the exception abound in red state land. Petty pilfering of boxes of ballots in the trunk of the county sheriff's O'fishal squad car or the little round volunteer lady's minivan filled with "false" votes bound for her fireplace. How abashed will we be if we find our democracy has disappeared because the "rubes" have run key-stone cops circles around our big city sophistication while our faces were stuck confident and fashionably unconcerned in our "smart" phones? and did it with a flash drive.
We'll never see the numbers. When it comes, that kick in the stomach you felt in November 2016 will be like the faint remembrance of a lost lover's caress. When it comes, this little island, this sanctuary of thoughtful introspection and informational dissemination, will be among the first to face banishment. It just won't be here anymore. Crickets when you call.
