We adopted the male first. Named him Dude after the character and the actor, a good fit. However, they brought out his sister, and I fell in love, and had to adopt her as well. We were searching for a name for her, a friend insisted that she be named with a B, like our other female pups. She was so feisty. So we came up with Betty/Bette, both strong women. She’s Bette, but Betty White was a strong factor for naming her.

I’m heartbroken today. May Betty cross peacefully, to be with her beloved husband, Alan.
