Fess up. With Dr. Oz running in Oh.. um... Pennsylvania

Do you want to see him lose the nomination because if Republicans start to break out of their enthrallment with charlatans it would be good for the country, or do you kinda want to see him get the nomination because his record is an embarrassment and that might swing a few more votes to the Democratic nominee?

The constitution only requires you be 9 years a resident of the state you're running in*. It doesn't have to be the 9 most recent years.

(*I got this wrong! It's 9 years residency in the US, which would include living overseas but keeping your US citizenship.)

((NB: One thing I don't like seeing is people pointing out that Oz has a dual Turkish citizenship. We've had MCs with dual citizenship in Israel and Canada... and even one from Switzerland). That doesn't and shouldn't matter. I hope we don't tolerate nativism in this forum just because it's a potential (but bogus) argument against a notorious snake oil salesmen))

The Constitution only requires 9 years of US citizenship and state residency as of the day of election. But it's an old story. New York's first Senator, Rufus King, had represented Massachusetts in the Constitutional Convention just two years prior to election and one year prior to New York's ratification of the Constitution.

According to the Supreme Court, states can't have residence requirements longer than 30 days prior to the election. Technically Ozzy could wait till Labor Day to buy a condo in Phily.

Oz is a longtime New Jersey resident. He has been registered to vote at an address in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, at a home owned by his mother-in-law since 2020. He holds his medical license in Pennsylvania.

That is from wikipedia

Honestly, after someone downthread pointed out I got the wrong state, the first thought to pop into
my head was "Um, is it Michigan?"

because Trump's election in 2016 showed that you can't trust voters to reject the worst of the worst.

Of course it would be better if beef was made out of vegetables and didn't emit greenhouse gases.
That may not be a genuine option in this world.
