Do you want to see him lose the nomination because if Republicans start to break out of their enthrallment with charlatans it would be good for the country, or do you kinda want to see him get the nomination because his record is an embarrassment and that might swing a few more votes to the Democratic nominee?

(54,014 posts)The constitution only requires you be 9 years a resident of the state you're running in*. It doesn't have to be the 9 most recent years.
(*I got this wrong! It's 9 years residency in the US, which would include living overseas but keeping your US citizenship.)
((NB: One thing I don't like seeing is people pointing out that Oz has a dual Turkish citizenship. We've had MCs with dual citizenship in Israel and Canada... and even one from Switzerland). That doesn't and shouldn't matter. I hope we don't tolerate nativism in this forum just because it's a potential (but bogus) argument against a notorious snake oil salesmen))

(54,014 posts)The Constitution only requires 9 years of US citizenship and state residency as of the day of election. But it's an old story. New York's first Senator, Rufus King, had represented Massachusetts in the Constitutional Convention just two years prior to election and one year prior to New York's ratification of the Constitution.
According to the Supreme Court, states can't have residence requirements longer than 30 days prior to the election. Technically Ozzy could wait till Labor Day to buy a condo in Phily.

That may not be a genuine option in this world.
