FRANKFORT, Ky. Gov. Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency due to severe weather across many regions of Kentucky according to a news release from the Office of the Governor.
A sever weather system is generating heavy rain, hail, thunderstorms, tornadoes and strong winds that is affecting many parts of western, eastern, and south central Kentucky, according to the news release.
Flash flooding, loss of power and damage of public infrastructure and private properties occurred as a result of the severe weather.
According to the release, 2 to 5 inches of rain is expected throughout the day in much of Kentucky, followed by a cold front tonight, which could complicate response efforts.
