Liz Cheney willing to lose because the 'single most important thing' is stopping Trump's next presidency

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) suggested that she is willing to lose her congressional seat because "the single most important thing" is to ensure that Donald Trump "is not anywhere close to the Oval Office again."

https://www.rawstory.com/liz-cheney-trump-reelection/

She is 100% correct. Trump must not ever be elected president of the United States ever again. If Trump gets into that position again he will destroy democracy and all of the institutions that ensure that we have free elections.

They must ALL be exposed and held accountable, even if they only get punished at the ballot box. If this attack on democracy doesn't convince voters that they had better get out and vote against it while they still can, we're doomed.

The Presidency of The United States. He's never won an election in his life. In 2016 he
won the ratfucking and he , his enablers and followers need to be defeated politically
and incarcerated to prevent their ever being a threat to the rest of us again.

It's too bad and so sad that Raw Story and other news outlets keep supporting the lie
that TFG "won" due to a valid vote. That never happened.

That he did that by ratfucking and colluding with Putin doesn't mean he didn't win.

The rules he broke were largely unwritten, codes of honor, ethical boundaries no Repuke presidential candidate had crossed previously. The laws that he may or may not have broken weren't clear enough for the DOJ to do a fucking thing about it.

Honor is for losers now.

Reagan and Kissinger had deal with Iran not to release the hostages. Worse, Nixon pushed the South Vietnamese to reject any peace plan LBJ presented, promising a better deal. The war could have ended in 1968 at a point where half the Americans that died were still alive. As to the deal, the deal in the end was essentially identical.

I think it interesting that we can list many episodes of dirty politics by the Republicans. Think Colson and Stone in 1968, think Atwater and Reagan, think Rove who directed scurrilous smears of both McCain in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. Think Corsi attacking both Kerry and Obama, both times with lies.

I doubt every Democrat at every level ran 100 percent clean and honest, but it is hard to find even one who deserves to be on the above list. Note I even left out the complex dirty trick to claim Gove stole GWB's debate notes.

that more members of congress (republican) did not feel the same way. They know the threat that Trump was and still is to our democracy and yet most of them went along with the party line.

When it comes to Liz Cheney, this is a case where I can vehemently disagree with someone on pretty much everything and still admire and respect her.

1. they see it as a way back in to power and have no zero ethics. the ends justify the means. that's entirely plausible.
2. they think it will burn itself out and just go away in time. that's the approach to Trump & Trumpism that I think McConnell takes. no vocal opposition, but no real support, either.
3. the old guard that Cheney represents is gone, and only the yahoos are left.

I do believe that most of them thought it was all temporary and that people would forget their support of Trump. Instead it just got worse and they were too far in to reverse positions. Also, Trump's takeover of the republican party was incremental and many didn't realize what he'd done until it was too late.

Trump is not a terribly smart man, but in this respect, he was a diabolical genius. He played a brilliant game of one upmanship against the very people who had looked down on him his entire life. He was never good enough for any of them and now he had them eating out of his hand and begging for his approval. The ultimate revenge. It is hard to believe it is not satire.

but I must admit his supporters are very intimidating. They took too many chances and the consequences turned out to be far worse than they'd imagined. Those rubes that they catered to for years turned out to be very dangerous, as well as armed thanks to republican policies.

That would help keep TFG & his cronies out of office.

So should any R who's not a RWNJ. But they won't. So, not serious enough about saving our democracy.
