What I want to know is if omicron is as mild in 70 year olds and up as...

... it seems to be for others. I'm amazed at the number of fully vaxxed DUers who have it. But haven't heard of any hospitilizations.

I'm waiting to get info on that. Have been wearing N95s since the infectiousness in vaxed people bacame clear.

1. I've read that Omicron doesn't attack the lungs so us old folks stand a good chance

of surviving it. If that holds up to be true.

I don't think I'm ever going to give up masking, distancing, and sanitizing since all those
things have worked well so far. And of course I'm fully vaxxed and boosted and I'll get
any further booster I can.

4. Covid hospitalizations among people 70+ are rising sharply according to the NYTimes covid tracker.

Of course, people are much more likely to be hospitalized if they are unvaccinated. But right now I'm glad you are being as careful as possible, wearing the best mask.

Tons of data here, and you can also look up any state or county in the country. Some figures are going to lag because not every state reports during this long weekend.

Down pretty far there's a place to "build your own dashboard." Tomorrow if I'm feeling extra energetic, I think I'm going to try to tease out the vax/unvaxed stats among the 70+ cohort.

8. You're welcome! I check it almost daily.

I have a couple of places I check on my dashboard: my state, my county, and the states and counties were family members live. But I haven't examined the vaxxed/unvaxxed stats. I hope you can find what you're looking for! And I hope it isn't paywalled after a certain number of visits. I have a NYTimes subscription so I wouldn't know.

My husband has a 102.1 fever, a sore throat, coughing, and weakness and we can't get a testing appointment until Friday.

6. The lack of tests is a big problem. That's likely too late to get an accurate result if it's omicron

Still worth it in case it's flu, but I hope you are presuming it's covid and isolating from each other.
