It still incenses me that nobody did their due diligence by looking into this man and all his shadiness back in 2015. Rumors have dogged him since the 1970s, for chrissakes. He probably could not have withstood the pressure, and would have dropped out. But he was a novelty, a joke candidate who certainly wouldn’t last through primary season. Remember that?

is because he had mechanisms in place to steal the election for himself. He assumed that he could steal the election, when in fact, so many people voted for Biden/Harris, that the vote overwhelmed his workings.

TFG never made an attempt to enlarge his base. He never made an attempt to reach 50% popularity. I would only assume that TFG expected to squeak by using the Electoral College, backed up by some state/local tweaks in the vote.

I agree that whatever they had in place was overwhelmed by all the votes for Biden/Harris.

He "knows" voter and election fraud happened because he was involved. It didn't work for him. The majority, if not all, of the few cases of voter fraud uncovered have been GQP.

He and his handlers and minions had a few plans to stay in power. They used a lot of tactics, in their administration and the election, such as Lies, cheating, misinformation, manipulation, coercion, bribery, blackmail, hate speech, intimidation, violence, to name a few.

I also assume he expected to manipulate the election in a variety of ways, including using various officials. Let's not forget their voter suppression efforts at the local and state levels, both before and after the election.

He saw the pre-election polls and he knew he could never win against Biden. He knew as early as the summer of 2020 before the election. They had plenty of time to plan how they were going to steal it. The January 6th event was only their last resort because nothing else had worked. The courts refused to rule in his favor, they refused to overthrow an honest election result.

Chumps knows he lost, he always knew it wasn't "stolen" from him.

It makes no sense to highlight the "integrity of hundreds of obscure Americans from every walk of life, state and local officials, judges, and election workers"; without pointing out that the Retrumplican Party is currently working 24/7 to pass legislation all over the country to ensure these Americans with integrity won't stop them the next time.

That seems like it would be a pretty salient point to include in this story, wouldn't it?

This is like praising the integrity of the German government for sending Hitler to prison. Whew! Thank God we dodged that bullet, huh?

"Hitler was convicted of high treason and sentenced to five years in prison. He served only eight months of his sentence.

In the aftermath of the Beer Hall Putsch, Hitler decided on a "legal path" to revolution: the ballot box."

those patriots are being purged and Magats installed in their places. This book is one of those "feel good" books that doesn't understand that the steal, the coup is ongoing and growing. People revel in the fact that Steve Bannon has been indicted for ignoring a subpoena but every day he is working tirelessly to install Magats in positions of power. Steve Bannon has not been held accountable for anything.

Oh and I can't wait for Jan. 5th. Jan. 5th will mark 3 weeks since the select committee sent Meadow's criminal referral to Garland, that's how long it took DOJ to indict Bannon so I am waiting with bated breath for Jan. 5th.

Trump won't need the mob or the military in 2024, Magats are counting the votes, and Magats will decide which electors to send to the convention and the fascist SC will rule for the absolute authority of the states.

There are 3 election/voter bills that Chuck Schumer needs to pass this January or our democracy is toast, IMO. People need to be talking about those 3 bills and not feel good books.

the coup is ongoing and growing, it wasn't successful because it had some flaws in the planning. Those flaws are being removed, those patriots the book speaks of are being purged and replaced by Magats. The coup traitors have passed laws and have gerrymandered to ensure they at least win back the House and winning back the House is all that the traitors need to do to win the 2024 presidency.

Unless Chuck Schumer passes 3 election/voter laws this January GQP controlled states can send GQP electors to the Electoral college convention regardless if a Democrat won the popular vote. With 2 sets of electors from several states the decision on who to seat goes to whoever controls the House. The Democrats will appeal to the SC and several SC justices have already voiced opinions as to the absolute authority of states to run their own elections. If this sounds like hyperbole or like nonsense, just wait and see how low the GQP has fallen.

Sow suspicion and distrust of democratic traditions and norms. Once people internalize the message that it’s okay to think everything is institutionally corrupt, it makes the road to full autocracy that much smoother.

MSNBC has been doing yeoman’s work in sounding the alarm for 2024. They keep saying they don’t want to scare people — but we must be scared. This must be shouted from the rooftops. There’s still time to fight this. Unfortunately, though, those who need to hear it the most are watching another network and are probably too far down the rabbit hole to be helped.

If more people of the ilk of MTG, Josh Hawley, Paul Gosar, etc. find their way to Congress this year, then we may be truly done as a republic.

My library doesn’t seem to have this book on order yet. I’d like to read it.

The election was not stolen because poll workers were watching. Which is why we do not want a centralize polling system.
Here is what I tell my friends on the right: For this election to be stolen all those poll workers would have had to be in on it. Plus they would have all had to keep quiet. Trump lost and he is still lying to America.

anything, it makes me more determined, more focused on catching and stopping any future attempts to do a repeat of these shameful attempts to circumvent the desires of the winning electorate in our next election cycle. We hear constantly nonstop of the actions of the 1/6 rioters, and their leaders, as they are being thrown into jail, placed on probation, being chased down and charged w/ crimes almost on a daily basis.

I'd like to think that we are the silent majority thus by far (the Biden voters, as well as the numerous independent voters by the millions), the silent majority, and I daresay that if underhanded foul play is done in our next election cycle, that the silent majority will finally find their voices and act decisively. At least the Courts/Justice System is on our side, repealing the 60+ lawsuits to overturn the voters' choice last Nov. 2020.

There comes a time when democracy demands it, and the unfortunate truth is that a chunk of our elected officials are complacent w/ rump and his thugs being thrown into jail. There have been calls to enact portions of the amendment that calls for removal of these very same elected officials, to which I don't know why this hasn't happened.

I know it's extreme but hasn't the events of 1/6/21 reveal to all how extreme this whole situation is already? The voting rights and our choice that won were being trampled and trashed.

Twenty-six million people who were either too apathetic or too young to vote in 2016 voted for either Trump or Biden in 2020, and nearly 60% of them voted for Biden. And due to the pandemic, at least 60% of the votes were mailed in beforehand. With about only one third of the votes actually being cast on Election Day, perhaps Trump would have prevailed (again?) if there had been enough machine votes to flip.
