Wouldn't it be nice if Murkowski, Collins, and Romney had Cheney's courage and conviction?

I know it's a fantasy, but I would sleep better at night if I knew Democracy had some allies that would stand up publically to Moscow Mitch and other GQP authoritarians in the Senate.

That is all.

1. Especially Murkowski. She owes nothing to the Republican Party. Had to win in a write-in

They are behaving a little like abused spouses. As for Romney I can’t get that picture of him in the little dining room with Trump out of my head when he was trying to get Secretary of State

But they have to think about those fancy and lucrative "think tank" jobs that might be waiting for them.

Can't rock the boat just before you can cash in, right?

Murkowsky has to run for reelection this year and she's being primaried by a Trumpie. She can't afford to do that, even if she wants to. Sick and sad state of affairs.

Collins, on the other hand, just won reelection and she has 4 years to be concerned enough to run again.

Even if those three did the right thing, it wouldn't be enough to overcome Mitch's blockade.

7. But it would be enough to get the Voting Rights legislation passed.

That is the key item in this years agenda IMO. We would not have to rely on the flakiness of Manchin and Sinema.

But as I said, it's a fantasy. And a wet dream for Putin.

Right?

And those three would never vote for that.

trial:

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/13/the-7-republicans-who-voted-to-convict-trump.html

Republican Sens. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania voted to convict Trump.

I'd say that required some of what you are asking about, eh?
