1. This is a personal matter

Unfortunately, divorce papers tend to be full of untrue accusations in order to place the filer in a better position for negotiating a settlement. Releasing these private papers, this close to the election, gives the unfounded accusations time to spread, but not enough time for the truth to come out.

Of course, in a perfect world, the media would say this is a personal matter and refuse to run with the story.

2. I think the 'story', if any will be if abuse or adultery is alleged as a ground for divorce. It puts

the President in a bind as the campaign may be forced to say that the allegations are untrue and, by default, that Michele was not truthful, assuming she is the one who had the papers prepared and assuming we are talking about divorce filings.

3. folks basing their votes on something like this must have just brushed past Romney's history

. . . I haven't forgotten his history of bullying, abuse, bigotry, and elitism. I do think that the folks who are relying on this 'revelation' to hurt the president politically are despicable and far more damning to the Romney campaign than anything concerning the Obamas.
