(3,050 posts)New Yorkers knew first about this manic and did nothing to rid the country of this nightmare. Action was needed, his grafting asses has been in NY for his entire life and not one charge? He was only shunned - he should have been shut down long ago. He a mobster and most likely a federal criminal informant but come on. Be creative

(55,011 posts)Like apologizing for something your obnoxious drunk brother in law said in public, being embarrassed for what he did or cause pain for somebody else - he's never going to apologize.

(68,582 posts)`apologies. The person who did it needs to apologize...Trump.

(55,011 posts)it wouldn't be a bad thing for us - as expressed by our elected head of state - to acknowledge and apologize for any number of things we as individuals didn't actually do.

I stayed out of the thread. Then there was another and I kinda went, say what? but I still well, its not my city, and the voters decided.
But this is the third time, and now I am beginning to wonder if he realizes hes actually on a national stage now because NYC is so big it exerts its own gravitational pull.
Best of luck to him and everyone else.

(14,906 posts)I should add about my Brooklyn years that maybe he did some unsettling stuff that didn't rise to my alert level...
So I guess I'd say I sort of vouch for him. Which is why I did put him as a vote.
This was NYC voters first time at Rank Choice Voting! I've been hearing, reading about it for years. It's kind of daunting.

😄 Oooo, I love your comment...

But your "national stage" thought is also an interesting observation. I have no idea!
Yeah...his comments ... Some (or seem to) sound off!
I should go listen to the videos!
And Thanks 👍 for your good wishes for us NYC'rs!

Biden is too busy fixing Trump's screw up to have time to apologize for him.
IMO, this is a strange thing for a Democratic mayor to kick off with.

(51,308 posts)I wasnt impressed with his attitude, but I guess its that swagger.
Heres hoping he gets a bit better as time goes on. Im far from being one of the ACAB crowd, but I do know cops, and ex-cops, can be just a bit arrogant.

(51,308 posts)Theres some confusion over the b part, since its obviously a misogynistic slur as well. But some say its a different b word.

(32,705 posts)But moreso about the United States apologizing for horrendous comments towards a group of people during the pandemic. Tfg's words led to actual violence and harm that is still ongoing to this day. Tfg wasn't just speaking as himself--he was speaking as the President of the United States.
we owe the whole world apologies for that turd.

(18,265 posts)New Yorks Black Democratic base had endured a plague and marched for Black lives. They had kept the city going, along with municipal workers of all backgrounds, while wealthier New Yorkers remained safely at home. They had felt the rise in violence in their neighborhoods, and seen the resurgence of white supremacy under President Donald Trump. Their choice for mayor was Eric Adams.
In his victory speech in November, Mr. Adams said his election belonged to the citys working poor. I am you. I am you. After years of praying and hoping and struggling and working, we are headed to City Hall, Mr. Adams boomed. It is proof that people of this city will love you if you love them.
snip========================================================
From the moneyed corners of Manhattan to the gracious brownstones of Cobble Hill, there is a creeping sense of shock: The new mayor is not necessarily speaking to them. Power in Americas largest city has changed hands.
