Ghislaine Maxwell prosecutors ask judge for inquiry into juror

Maxwell’s legal team says they believe a new trial is warranted following revelations about juror

Prosecutors in Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex-trafficking trial on Wednesday asked the judge for an “inquiry” after a juror said in recent post-trial media interviews that he was a victim of sexual abuse.

Maxwell’s legal team said they believe a new trial is warranted following revelations about this juror.

Maxwell was found guilty on 29 December of five counts for facilitating the late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of girls, some as young as 14.

“While the court instructed jurors that they were free to discuss their jury service with anyone of their choosing, some of the statements, as related in the media, merit attention by the court. In particular, the juror has described being a victim of sexual abuse,” prosecutors wrote.

of sexual abuse or harassment. The juror in question apparently left that out.

That juror then convinced others, from their own experience as a sexual abuse survivor, that incomplete memories could still be credible, per the AP.

In interviews published Tuesday and Wednesday by The Independent and the Daily Mail, one juror described a moment during the deliberations when he told fellow jurors in Maxwell’s trial that, like some of the victims of the late financier Epstein, he had been sexually abused as a child. And he said he convinced other jurors that a victim’s imperfect memory of sex abuse doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

“I know what happened when I was sexually abused. I remember the color of the carpet, the walls. Some of it can be replayed like a video,” he said he told the jury, according to The Independent. “But I can’t remember all the details, there are some things that run together.”

answer to that question because he is a man and like so many, they seem to think only women are abused.

12. I mean, it looks to be more than inaccuracy - it's deliberate deception

And then using the basis of that deception as the grounds of your arguments in deliberation? This is John Grisham type stuff. No bueno.
