Bernie Sanders hosts union president to talk Special Metals strike during town hall

(snip)

During the town hall, Local 40 President Chad Thompson stressed how difficult it is getting for families to be on strike for this long with no pay or healthcare. He said that negotiations are ongoing this week but that they are still nowhere close to coming to an agreement on healthcare.

“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that you can’t go back to working class people anywhere and say that your insurance is going to from $300 to $1,200 or $1,300," Thompson said during the town hall.

Thompson told Eyewitness News on Wednesday that no new progress was made at the negotiating table and that they will continue on Thursday.

He said during the town hall they were told at the table by the company that the workers right now make "too much" and that their insurance is "too good." The workers have been strike there for 97 days.

If there are any OPs about them perhaps I'll comment there. My statement wasn't a "blast". George II Jan 2022 #3

But I don't see you blasting the other senators who did not vote yesterday.

On our side of the aisle, the following senators missed the votes yesterday:

Cardin (D-MD)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Murray (D-WA)
Ossoff (D-GA)
Sanders (I-VT)
Sinema (D-AZ)

I'm sure they had valid reasons for not being there. And in my book, standing up the working class is one hell of a good reason. Go Bernie Go!

As for the usual suspects who bash Bernie at every opportunity...
