(34,135 posts)I thought he was one of the most beautiful men I had ever seen and his voice, just wow. Once I found out his politics it was apparent he was a full package of greatness.
He has left us with so much. A life more than just well lived. So sad.

(269,225 posts)It was a complete accident - in a supermarket aisle in Nassau. He said hello and I told him one of my best friends adored him. I then asked him if it would be rude to ask him for an autograph for her. He asked me her name and wrote it. She still has it - more than 50 years later.
He was a wonderful progressive man.

(25,987 posts)I know he's done so many other stage roles and movies (A Patch of Blue, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, In the Heat of the Night, They Call Me Mister Tibbs) but to me, he's always 'Sir.'

(269,225 posts)I think I loved Kathryn Hepburn even more after Guess Whos Coming to Dinner.

(83,967 posts)CNN just showed a few clips of his movies. They also showed Barack Obama awarding him the medal of freedom.
I am going to miss this man. Rest in peace, Sir.

(2,129 posts)I just saw him the other day in To Sir with Love. His acting and presence always had a quiet dignity that infused all of his roles.
