.... how COVID compares to the average flu season regarding hospitilazations for vaxed/boosted people in the 70-79 cohort and the 80-89 cohort. I posted a similar question a week or so ago. Posting again in case new info has come out.
This is the info that governs whether we continue to stay away from family members with kids going to school and continue to wear N95s to the grocery store.

(1,505 posts)of long covid as well. Is long different in the Omigod variant compared to Delta, for example. "Long" of course being relative in this age group. 😒 the "don't buy green bananas" age group, namely mine...

(4,999 posts)Now, to make a reasonable comparison -- need a cohort of individuals who are vaxxed and also back to "normal" -- i.e. not wearing masks and socializing like they did in 2018-2019.
I suspect the cohort needed to compare to doesn't actually exist. Older people are far more cautious (generally -- 89% of 65+ have had at least 2 doses), so are still wearing masks, minimizing social contacts even when they are boosted.
