Doesn't agree with him about God scheduling rapes to produce new babies, but no problem, Murdock will vote with the Pukes, and that's all that matters.

(17,199 posts)These are the FACES of today's Republican Party ... the faces that will BE IN YOUR FACE (i.e., taking away your reproductive rights) if they win.

(28,979 posts)There are already so many laws in place and others we could reconsider.
Article 475 of the Moroccan penal code states that a rapist may be exonerated of his crime if he marries his victim.
In Jordan, Article 308 allows rape charges to be dropped if the perpetrator agrees to marry the victim.
In medieval Europe, rape was often considered a crime of property and payment of a fine to the father was sufficient punishment.
In Scotland, Ireland and the English border counties, the payment of "body price" and "honor price" involved two forms of abduction: voluntary in which the bride went willingly but without her family's prior consent; and involuntary in which she was taken by force. Both types were practiced as late as the eighteenth century.
Marital rape was not completely outlawed in England or the US until the 1990s.

(17,199 posts)... he comes out with a commercial supporting Mourdock the DAY before Mourdock makes his rape comment.
A wake-up call with 12 days to go.

(5,842 posts)as Romney didn't seem to suffer too much for not coming down too hard on Akin.
That said, it's pretty hard to spin a statement that states a life conceived of rape is God's gift.
The Republicans can "context"/"misinterpreted" all they want....it's pretty hard to not take away from Mourdock's statement that God opted not to prevent the rape but chose instead to bestow a gift of life upon an unwilling participant.
Freaks.
