(2,921 posts)Hang on, everybody. These people won't be with us that much longer, in the grand scheme of things.
They truly are a dying breed.

(20,018 posts)I thought that when I was a kid (around 40 years ago).
They're not a dying breed. They raise their children to be just like them.
They've gotten crazier and more powerful during the last three decades.

(2,921 posts)They've gotten louder, and because they have been so powerful for so long they can control the megaphone for the time being, but in the long game they are losing to modernity.
They are sputtering out like a dying supernova, though at this point they look awfully big.
In my dealings with the younger generations I see more and more awareness of, and distaste for, the inequalities between the sexes.
It may take another twenty generations but the patriarchy will eventually lose its grip and parity will emerge.

(2,921 posts)Think about this in the meantime:
100 years ago women couldn't vote in this country.
50 years ago a woman could not legally decide to end her pregnancy.
25 years ago the thought of a woman president would have been pretty far-fetched, but is perfectly plausible now.
I am NOT saying we don't have a long, long way to go - but we shouldn't deny the progress that's been made nor succumb to despair over the distance of the ultimate goal.
I know you and the other four good men aren't going to let that happen.

(53,521 posts)I'm 26 and I think the amount of misogyny among my fellow Millennial men is worse than that among Gen-Xer men.
At the same time, Millennial women have no memory of life before Roe v. Wade and seen not to care about such issues.

That's pretty much what I get from the Republican party. And if you aren't of a race capable of producing white male offspring, your womb doesn't really matter all that much as long as you obey white males.
