Pathetic

What's truly pathetic about those who planned, funded, and/or participated in Trump's attempted coup is that they actually believed that he would somehow manage to hold onto to the presidency - and they, as a result, would never face the consequences of having committed crimes in the furtherance thereof.

What is even more pathetic is the fact that some of them still believe that.

It seems apparent that many who are facing possible charges for the roles they played in an assault on our government - and on democracy itself - still think that not only does Trump still have the power to save them, he will ultimately do so.

They proudly refuse to cooperate with the Jan/6 committee, seemingly biding their time until their Orange Knight is miraculously reinstated as pOTUS, when pardons will be handed out like so much candy, and those who held firm in their loyalty to him will be rewarded with riches and power beyond their fevered imaginations.

One can only contemplate how many GOP politicians and political operatives only acted as they did because they never considered that Trump's coup would fail - that they were so convinced of his political omnipotence, it never occurred to them that they'd someday be held accountable.

The arrogance of people like Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Steve Bannon et al demonstrates that they still believe that after all is said and done, they will have the last laugh as their Dear Leader retakes his rightful place in the WH. They may be a bit shaky on the details of how this will happen, but they're sure of it all the same.

The lunacy of people like Lindsey Graham speaks to just how contagious Trump's insanity is, as he persists in his conviction that Trump needs to be worshipped in anticipation of his eventual rise from the ashes to take control of a pResidency he's already lost.

Had the January 6th insurrectionists known they would be arrested, jailed, convicted, had they known that they would lose their jobs as a result of their actions, how many would have shown up? Twenty? Thirty? Fifty? I'd wager it would have been a handful at most. Again, those who did participate only did so because they believed that the man who told them to go to the Capitol "and I'll be right there with you" actually meant what he said. No doubt many of them envisioned medals being placed around their necks at a ceremony in the Rose Garden.

Watching Republican politicians who still believe their Messiah will inevitably save them is like watching the folks in Dealy Plaza waiting for JFK Jr. to reappear from the dead - both groups are delusional, the only difference between them being who's still drinking the kool-aid and who's drinking their own piss.

It won't happen as trump couldn't give a fu_k about them if he ever gets back in. Which he won't.

His sycophants are too stupid to realize that he isn't interested in them, but only in himself.

I wonder how many jailed insurrectionists are still waiting for Trump to pay their legal fees and post their bail.

... troops.

Troops were purposefully withheld after request from the governor, mayor, congressmembers, capital police and even the DC NG that was in the area.

Help being withheld from that many people in a 4 hour period calling for assistance is an inside job.

What's the DC NG going to claim? They didn't know what was going on?

Putin's Whore could've held the office for a couple of days and that might be all it took.

He would've had enough help from red state governors like Abbot who are telling the troops last month that Biden isn't their CiC.

Or what they assume. All that is important is that justice will be served. Let others view this a reminder of their stupidness should they want to repeat it again!
