(10,845 posts)However it is indeed interesting to hear how whacked out this guy is - no surprise though being a loony militia nut. He can spend the rest of his pathetic life in prison pretending to be a great leader.

(6,890 posts)shows McConnell similarly describing a calm and reasoned position as an "incoherent rant."
What's that saying - "consider the source"?

(7,282 posts)It's unfortunately not uncommon phenom to be hooked up with a partner (married or not) whose Sociopathic inclinations and pattern of behavior is realized, finally recognized.
But the really shocking realization is the moment when it becomes obvious there are no limits, no boundaries to the extreme danger that Sociopath poses to everyone around him and especially in domestic environments.
A lot of Women are victims and so it's good to hear these "rants".

(3,341 posts)I certainly think so, as it meets three (arguably four) of the seven components* of being newsworthy.

(3,395 posts)It is always good to know about the people who are good or bad. I bet no one knew he created a myth about himself, that his wife and kids were in danger from him...that he seems to be the twin brother of trump...It is definitely newsworthy.

Maybe you have had a bad ex-spouse experience that leads you to make this kind of statement.
But who knows better about a sociopath than a family member or spouse who know intimate details and had to live with someone.

(22,037 posts)Former spouses generally know their exes pretty well. Given that this nut job was planning to take over the Capitol-- and had an arsenal at the ready!-- perhaps you might reconsider your derision of this woman's comments.
Further, the Daily Beast is not a sensationalist website and their reporting tends to be professional.
Besides, don't you think the FBI would interview her? Why shouldn't the public hear what she has to say about this seditionist?

(26,080 posts)I think you meant, "The legitimate concerns of an abused wife fearing her abusive ex husband will kill her."
Fixed it for you, Champ.
I didn't see the post but it is pretty clear from follow-up posts that it was in dire need of your editorial services.
I think it's important to look at the psychology of these insurrectionists. Any real psychologist would find the comments of a wife or life partner to be worth listening to.

(26,080 posts)Why should we listen to the rantings of an estranged wife?
That is very close to word for word, then to paraphrase the rest: the crazy ex wife is an unreliable narrator of this poor, derided husband.

(1,000 posts)If his noblesse oblige did not extend to the little wife and the kids, that was his private business and for the families good name we must not speak ill of "family."
The bane of our domestic courts, law enforcement, prison system, medical professionals, and broken underfunded mental health system.
The guy that drove through the Christmas parade was a domestic violence practitioner who was out on bail for having tried to run over his ex wife with the same SUV, after having attacked her again with a knife.
Or so said the rantings of the estranged ex wife, and the police report. This guy went to Yale and has a nice house in Texas, can't be true.

(1,642 posts)With the theme being a group of folks stumble upon troves of V/H/S snuff-style movies, and watching them messes you up good.
They're not the greatest, but they're not that bad either. It's just a twist on the usual horror stuff.
I can't remember which one has the pretend militia, but the 'leader' was just a bumbling egotistical moron, and his followers even more so. Hearing the guy in the OP described reminded me of the movie.

(91 posts)Noteworthy AND newsworthy that so many of the insurrectionists have histories of domestic violence, as well as financial stresses and gun fetishes. The women who live in fear of their partners are the canary in the coal mine that we ignore at our peril. Do NOT dismiss her story as a "disgruntled" woman. Men who emerge as dangers to society started first as a danger to their family.

(11,564 posts)And, unfortunately, this condition is NOT something that can be undone medically...except by Ketamine or similar, but all you achieve is turning a sociopath into something akin to a vegetable.
The best you can hope for is someone being very motivated to change, to the point that they will be extremely diligent and cognizant of their behaviors and the way they must be modified.

Getting out of an abusive relationship without getting maimed or murdered in the process is a hell of a lot harder than a lot of people seem to think.

(21,132 posts)it's weird to me when people say a person has no empathy. I freaking feel pain as people describe it to me. I can't watch fights. I feel every blow. I can't watch "jackass" type videos for the same reason.
The total inability of anyone to even have tangent of that seems so alien to me.

(35,687 posts)I once tried to understand sociopaths so I found a book by one whose purpose was to describe what her day-to- day life was like. I was only about 7 pages into the book where she reported watching an animal drown in a swimming pool with complete detachment. I could read no more and in fact felt the need to get the book out of my house immediately.

(1,000 posts)My other two siblings were non functional before they were out of high school. I walked away, and eventually had the care of my three siblings, and God love my husband, he never questioned our duty. Ohio is a duty to report state, there were witnesses. The only one who did was a school guidance counselor, who got fired for "interfering" because there was money involved. My parents home, social security, and life insurance.
My sister was no liar.
Stewart Rhodes wife and children have a chance with him in prison.
