I just visited https://www.covidtests.gov/. Here is what the site says:
Every home in the U.S. can soon order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests will be completely freethere are no shipping costs and you dont need to enter a credit card number. Ordering begins January 19.

(34,076 posts)But 4 tests for 3 of us, or 4 for my employee's 5, etc. doesn't go very far. I used 3 when it is likely I had COVID before Christmas. The standard is to test at 5 days post-exposure. Since I've been exposed several times already this semester . . . and we're only a week into the semester.
It's a nice gesture, but not much more.
I would prefer they make more available through libraries, public health departments for those who can travel to get them, and regularly (say every other week) ship 2 tests to everyone who signs up.

This is still a good idea, but about 6 weeks too late to have significant value.

(1,969 posts)Or claiming some sort of special PTO from your employer. Why do you need the tests?
I mean if your sick stay home and away from others.
BTW can the home tests be used for travel restrictions or employment waivers or does that still require a visit to a testing center.
Cause if that is the case I am at a loss.
