I just signed a petition to take them off and also Fox.
Keeping my fingers crossed!

All the carriers of these fascists should be sued along with the licensed hate speakers for aiding and abetting.

(12,449 posts)But I've seen clips of OAN and they are 100% straight up disinformation and propaganda.

(12,449 posts)90% of their revenue came from ATT/DirecTV
They still have a large presence on YouTube but will be made nearly invisible by this move.
Their estimated ratings were as low as 20,000 regular viewers.

(8,917 posts)AT&T owns DirecTV
AT&T donates to OANN
Hard for me to believe that DirecTV will pull off OANN.
Once the higher ups at AT&T find out, they'll fire the person who made that decision
and reverse it.
Just my theory.

(65,075 posts)AT&T has investments in the holding company that contains that pipsqueak propaganda outfit.
With the scope of that giant company, a fringe network hardly anybody watches cannot generate sufficient benefit to offset the negatives of any association with OANN. It doesn't make any money.
It's better business to dump them, than to keep them
Earning an extra 10¢ to deal with a thousand bucks worth the criticism is bad business.
WarGamer
(12,449 posts)They "previously" paid them to run their channel on DTV.
Not any more.

(6,917 posts)Propaganda is funded by networks that pay to carry their station. OANN is toast.

(50,946 posts)It was the fees from DirecTv that made it possible. Even though nearly no one watched them.

...calling it "conservative."
Conservative means keeping things the same. Overthrowing the government in a violent revolution led by the insane is not keeping things as they are.

(523 posts)Howcome Direct TV hides the Free Speech TV channel? It's there but not on Direct TV's scheduling grid, and the only way to get to see it is to punch in the exact channel number (348) - without the scheduling grid given any clue as to the program. It's mostly very liberal (e.g. Randi Rhodes) but it is concealed while OAN is listed on the grid and easy to find.
