Obviously this is part of a much bigger conspiracy, Michigan AG says scheme "may go all the way to the top."
forgery of a public record, which is a 14-year offense, and election law forgery, which is a five-year offense
I remember when they tried to get into the capitol while the real electors convened and the guards denied them access.

Here follows an important tweet.

Tribe's tweet really added nothing we didn't already know, but he gets a ton of replies. Sometimes replies can be the best part of Twitter.

If this Michigan USA finds that the crime encompasses other jurisdictions, then others get involved too. Next it might move to a national assistant AG, the one in charge of criminal matters. If the evidence implicates someone like a #FailedCoupGuy, it will land on AG Garland's desk. My guess, that scenario has already played out. The broader conspiracy also involves domestic terrorism. By now, I imagine a whole building of the nation's top attorneys are busy on this.

(18,636 posts)It wasn't a joke, they knew exactly what they were trying to do, and that it didn't work makes it no less of a crime. A big crime. There's no whataboutism for this. Nothing in history that I know of.
Sadly, they thought they were going to pull it off and President Elect Donald Trump would sweep it under the rug.

Note the date on this one and you'll know how long DoJ has been on this case, at a minimum:

Pence knew all this was happening as it was happening, and this was what he did:

(3,861 posts)and Congress, in Democratic hands, would never have voted to accept challenges to the originals. Not sure what they were thinking but the only think Pence could have done was bring the certified ballots. Dan Quayle told him that. Otherwise, he's a sleazy slimeball just like everyone else who kisses Trump's rear.

(9,670 posts)of the GOP?
We all know that the low hanging fruit is going down and will suffer greatly for their acts of sedition.
But what about Giuliani Bannon? Stone? What about his cohorts in the executive branch? Congress?
A conspiracy this large will likely touch on hundreds of well-known, high statured Republicans.
Is this a country governed by the rule of law, or is it some kind of hybrid that protects the rich and powerful and saves its justice for the stupid lackies that follow the instructions of their misguided leaders?
