(9,998 posts)Basically it's just a matter of luck as to whether you get shot and killed in America.
And that's NEVER gonna change. If anything, it's only going to become more likely.

(1,969 posts)Unfortunately crimes like these dissappear from the headlines almost immediately.
Just not newsworthy if you can't use it to create division in society.

(63,221 posts)These people were always with us, but Trump gave them permission to act on their sickest impulses. He must never be allowed to have a shred of political power ever again.

(32,457 posts)Alejandro Garcia was shot dead by a customer at a Taco Bell drive-thru in LA, his family told ABC 7.
He was working a Saturday-night shift with his son when he was shot, the police said.
An argument erupted after Garcia's son refused a $20 bill that seemed fake, his family said.

I was just sharing that the sauce in question is so terrible that it was part of my initial reaction

(102,289 posts)drive through restaurant once in two years--and the food is now so salty to me I couldn't eat it. So, I guess that is one good thing that has come from more than two years of what serves as "cooking at home."
But, not to ignore the horror of these episodes. I mourn for what could have been in the US, had rational people prevailed on guns.

As for only in America, excuse me, but that's ignorant to the max. Why say it? Does our performance in context disappoint, not bad enough?

(24,890 posts)Every country has racist people. But very few countries were founded with their original documents while slavery was still a part of it.
And again all countries have unstable people but none of them have as many guns freely floating around as the United States.
Gun death violence in the United States far exceeds any other oecd country.
So yes. Only in this country is it so easy and common. The stats speak for themselves.

"US homicide rates were 7.0 times higher than in other high-income countries, driven by a gun homicide rate that was 25.2 times higher. For 15- to 24-year-olds, the gun homicide rate in the United States was 49.0 times higher. Firearm-related suicide rates were 8.0 times higher in the United States, but the overall suicide rates were average. Unintentional firearm deaths were 6.2 times higher in the United States. The overall firearm death rate in the United States from all causes was 10.0 times higher. Ninety percent of women, 91% of children aged 0 to 14 years, 92% of youth aged 15 to 24 years, and 82% of all people killed by firearms were from the United States."
