(102,292 posts)shed tears over. So, in your need to be "better than all the rest of DUers on this thread," can you HONESTLY say you'd shed tears for those indicated and who you don't know. Literally?
Sorry, this is unearned sanctimony.
BlackSkimmer
(51,308 posts)Without a doubt.

(102,292 posts)convince me that YOU would shed tears for someone you don't know, have no relationship with nor any one-on-one interaction. So, your misrepresenting what those here are responding to is putting YOUR spin on it and it is disingenuous and inflammatory.

No one here trying to suggest they are better than some other DUers can convince me that in all honesty they would SHED Literal tears for these strangers whose names and actions are known and THAT was the question asked.
Despite some posts alleging the contrary, I have NEVER seen a thread advocating HARM come to even the most amoral of our opponents on DU. If they existed, my guess is that they were promptly removed by alert and disgusted jury.

(38 posts)So remember the next time you guys call conservatives fascists just who is making lists of people they want to suffer or die. I dont know how you could call yourself liberal or progressive, this much hate toward any other human isnt healthy. I dont want to see any human suffer, and I sure as hell wouldnt want to be judge jury and executioner on someone just because I disagreed with their politics. Sometimes things like this embarrass me and make me realize why the democratic measage doesnt sit well, its backed by venomous garbage like this. Id like to think we believe in democracy myself, I fought to defend it, and last time I checked, we dont figuratively poison political opposition, we vote them out. To wish harm on others for their political beliefs just seems wrong

Journalists who have the courage to speak truth to power, native americans, all animals especially cats, they are my heart, people who are not bullies, the rare good cop, disenfranchised people, the poor .
But for republicans and others listed below and in my other reply ,I shed no tears over thier misfortune. Some people deserve to be cared about because they are not toxic violent selfish bullies.
You cant love away narcissism, sociopathy or authoritarianism.
These people ruin everything they touch.
And no I am not seething 24-7 over it. Its just my way of dealing with the very real situation we are in regarding fascism.
I hate some people for very good reasons,to lie about it and say I care about them would be a hypocritical crazy making
Self destructive thing.
Everyone deals with this different ways.
And your way might be good for you and people like you.
Its not healthy for others who have lived through awful abuse,I refuse to love which causes my misery and destroys my life and my country.

(38 posts)Interesting term, people like you. Im just a person like everyone else. You dont have to care for everyone but you dont have to hate a whole group of people because of a few bad apples. There are bad apples in every group. Bigotry is an ugly thing, regardless of which side it comes from.

(26,587 posts)is not "different political beliefs".
And people venting their frustrations on a discussion board are not the "Democratic message".
Real Republican elected officials and media people are really talking about killing their political opponents, and making genuine threats. I don't suppose you find that to be a problem though.
Thank you for the scolding anyway.

(38 posts)So wishing for all republicans to be sick, die or the such isnt going to harm democracy. Sorry but autocracy extends to suppressing the will of others. You dont think some of the posters wanting to target all is any different? And venting? If you have to call for violence against someone, harm to someone or wishing them to suffer, thats beyond venting. Thats borderline psychotic. I get it, you dont like them. Thats cool. Why would you want any human to suffer or die? Even prisoners are supposed to be not subject to cruel and unusual punishment, but its okay if those who think differently to be punished horribly. Awesome. I know plenty of countries that think that is okay. But we arent one.so then the last thing is, well they do it so its okay. No. No one who is a decent human being should wish harm on anyone else over political ideaology. I live in rural Colorado, and not one republican I know wants to overthrow democracy or see people die they disagree with. And last, every person that supports a message is the message. I was taught growing up if you stand for something, you represent it. Kind of like a democracy, one vote, one voice. When you go and post death wishes online do you not think others read it and it becomes language for what people represent. Every voice counts, and when you speak loudly and publicly that voice is recognized. So we are the message. Do you think someone just getting ready to vote for the first time isnt going to listen to their peers.

(21,486 posts)It only asks who we would not shed a tear over if they were overcome by covid. I am not wishing death or even covid on anyone. But, there are many who, if it happened, I would not cry over it, either.
I did not feel so strongly about it until 2 of my close relatives died due to magats spreading the virus. I have as much concern for the magats as they had for my brother and uncle.
hlthe2b
(102,292 posts)as unearned as it might be. I have no doubt you do NOT shed tears for those with whom you have no personal connection, experience or prior interaction and that is all that is being said here. Ambivalence towards those you don't know or even like is not a sin. Nor does it signal a lack of empathy nor compacity for empathy.

(12,480 posts)Who or what is doing all the keeping track adding and subtracting of karma for billions of people and everything they do or dont do to the point they check our very thoughts what is that accountant in the sky?
The concept of karma is not just action and reaction like some say it is.
Its more like a mental game with a santa claus with his good and naughty list that knows everything knows when your sleeping when you are awake. Better be good or you'll never get off the wheel of suffering and earn your way into nirvana.
When you get angry ooh cant say what you really feel because it will give you bad karma. ...?

(1,900 posts)when dealing with people who are solely transactional beings - is by applying
a transactional ethic. The republicans do not give one shit about us. Therefore,
I refuse to give one shit about them. Second, they not only don't give a shit
about us - they wouldn't care if we were killed. Really people, they're sociopathic -
but don't conflate not caring about sociopaths with sociopathy.
Let me put it another way, if they were on fire and I had a bucket of water I'd throw it and miss.
And no, I'm not "better than that" whatever the fuck that means.
I'm not a "high" post count guy - but IMO low posts count "concerned" people are naïve or
disingenuous.
These motherfuckers that I would not shed a tear for tried to undermine OUR government - and negate MY vote - my sacred
VOICE. They SHIT on all of us and would do it again.

(38 posts)So since I dont post all the time I dont count as much or my opinion isnt as important. Im just as much an America as anyone, just as much a voter, and a vet. I didnt realize it was a raffle where more entries was the most important thing. I lurk, I read a lot. I only post when I have something to say. I usually skip the posts celebrating others suffering and dying, but if you want me to start posting high fives in all those posts so I have a higher post count, Ill try. No, I wont. Im not retired and have time to post all the time, and I work a job where I cant sit around on a phone or computer and post all day. It takes all kinds. And I may be naive, I know its human nature to be hateful, but I try to find the best in people and survive. You get one life, and you should never go to bed hungry angry or sad. It doesnt make life any better. But Im just as much a member here as anyone else, regardless of post count. Man, saying that makes me feel like a democracy, where everyone counts, not just those we want to count

(50,559 posts)On Thursday I stopped at the supermarket on the way home from work. When I left the store there was a lifted Jeep sitting beside my car. It had a personalized plate reading FR3EDOM. Both door windows had I Will Not Comply signs in them. The whole back was plastered with antivax stickers - lions not sheep, I will not comply, something equating vaccination to the Holocaust
I dont remember all of it, but it was a mess.
Theres also a man in town who runs a junk hauling service. His car has always been covered with right wing bullshit. Now hes got antivax, anti-Biden and anti-AOC bullshit. Theres an upside down flag and a huge Trump is my president banner.
If those two were to wind up intubated, the only complaint is Kootenai Health isnt that big and intubating two more fucking idiots takes away bed space from the cancer patients North Idaho breeds like rabbits.
