Jamaican authorities have arrested a former Haitian senator who was a key suspect in the murder of Haitian President Jovenel Moise in July, Jamaican national police have said.
Jamaica Constabulary Force spokesman Dennis Brooks told the Reuters news agency that John Joel Joseph, a well-known Haitian politician named by the authorities as a suspect in Moises killing, was arrested by the authorities on Friday.
Brooks did not comment on whether the arrest was following a request by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, which is also investigating the murder. It was also unclear where Joseph was arrested in Jamaica.
Meanwhile, Jamaica Police Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay told The Associated Press news agency that some other people were also arrested along with Joseph and that authorities were trying to determine whether they were family members.

Please note that the Colombian army man suspected of killing Moise was allowed to leave Jamaica but was arrested by US officials in Panama and extradited to the US.
