North Carolina is getting some snow... is that normal?

I've been to the coastal regions (Kitty Hawk, Wilmington) and am aware there are mountains in the west but heavy snow isn't the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the state.

Edited to add:

Thank you in advance. I was just worried another Texas deep freeze was going to happen and would be upset if people froze to death due to energy company hubris.

every once in a while states like NC, TX and others get a few inches and then it melts very quickly.

and we get measurable snow a two or three times a year. Every now and then we'll get a particularly snowy winter but it's not that common.

I still have pics of my parents, my dog, and me playing in it. Parents and dog gone now, but we had fun that week.

I live east of I 95 but not coastal and we usually have at least one small, but measurable, snow fall a year. Today it is rain which has frozen on surfaces. The big problem, in terms of power, is thick ice storms. Those can make it so an area doesn't have power for a week or more (by falling trees and lines)

Western NC has really good skiing and snowboarding facilities too. I live about 1 hour west of there. It is beautiful.

Western NC. It snowed so much when I was a kid that we often had the school year extended because we had used up all the academic snow days, and if I recall were gyped of Easter holiday week. Actually the later was the norm, days built in that we never ever got.

It snows so much less now though.
