The more people omicron infects, the more likely it is to produce the next variant.

That's how viruses work. When millions are infected, there are millions of chances for something to evolve which is much more harmful. So be careful what you wish for.

Wether the mutated variant is less harmful or more deadly we have no way of knowing until it appears
