COVID Patient Flown to Texas After Minnesota Doctors Decided to Pull Plug on Ventilator

AMinnesota woman whose husband neared death from COVID appealed to the courts to force his hospital to halt their plans to pull the plug on the man’s ventilator.

Scott Quiner, 55, a reportedly unvaccinated man who had been battling COVID in Mercy Hospital’s ICU in Coon Rapids since November, was set to have his ventilator shut off on Jan. 13, according to a petition filed in court one day before the deadline by his wife, Anne Quiner.

Quiner said the decision by the hospital would “end my husband’s life” and appealed to the Anoka County Court for a restraining order against the hospital. “Absent an Order from the court,” she wrote in the petition, “my husband will die.”

On Jan. 13, a district court judge ordered Mercy Hospital not to turn off Quiner’s ventilator.

On Monday morning, Marjorie Holsten, an attorney representing Quiner’s wife, told the Star Tribune that Quiner has now been transferred to a hospital in Texas.

"The doctor said Scott was the most undernourished patient he has ever seen,” Holsten told the outlet. “The last update I got was yesterday afternoon after some tests had been run; all organs are working except his lungs.”

This is why everyone needs to make their wishes clear to their loved ones, in writing what they want in these kinds of situations

According to a screenshot of Quiner’s chart included in his wife’s court filings, staff at the hospital noted on Jan. 12 that Quiner’s “care plan” called for the end of ventilator support on Jan. 13. “Family would be able to be present at the bedside,” the chart read.

"Undernourished... only the lungs are not working."

Hard to be nourished when you're on a ventilator for weeks and can't breathe.

But if she can afford to ship him across the country and the Texas hospital can save him, more power to them. I think we'll see an HCA award in a week or so however.

with extubating patients at the end of life, but it was always in accordance with patient's directives and/or family agreement. Not sure what the law is in Minnesota, but doctors and facilities choosing to end care and allow the patient to die in the face of unified family dissent is a new one for me.

We're only hearing what the family is reporting -- no actual quotes from any medical personnel. The man was not vaccinated -- I suspect misplaced guilt is what's going on here with his wife. God forbid any of them take ownership over their choices.

Marjorie Holsten, a lawyer representing the Quiners, told TV station KMSP that Scott Quiner was flown by helicopter to a hospital somewhere in Texas.

Holsten’s social media shows a history of skepticism toward the scientific community and articles sharing COVID-19 vaccine misinformation.

The attorney told KMSP that she expects Scott Quiner’s condition to improve at the Texas hospital.

And as he gets better and better, we are going to see that you know what, there are protocols that should be used that hospitals have not been using,” Holsten told the outlet. “And I am hoping that changes are going to be made as a result of this case.”

Something is awfully strange about this whole story. Maybe the lawyer mispoke and it was really a plane? Or it could land to refuel.

There is a whole network of quack doctors making a fortune off rubes prescribing hydrox and ivermectin. This bozo in Texas is likely going to Bill their insurance a King’s ransom and after abusing this guy’s body with these drugs, blame Minnesota for killing him.

He saw this rube family coming a mile away.

That was profiting off telehealth visits, writing ivermectin prescriptions and claiming to have the only monoclonal antibody treatment for omicron in all of Las Vegas. Every word of that advertisement sounded highly suspect. I told the OP of that thread they should report that to the SEC and the IRS, sounds like there's something really shady going on there.

When you compare covid deaths in Texas to Minnesota, Minnesota comes out ahead ( meaning they do better ) according to Worldometer. Again, I suspect misplaced guilt from the family and they are directing at the hospital in Minnesota.

how the supposedly "caring" individuals took their masks down for the picture? Not a care in the world about what they might be doing to others. But at least if he begins to improve in Texas (very doubtful) they can hook his catheter right to his feeding tube. Maybe the doctors in Texas are going to go for consultations with Dr. Joseph Rogan.
