Yet ANOTHER 'Big Lie'

All through the Senate debate, you'll be hearing the Repubs claiming the Dems proposed election legislation would "federalize" the elections.

THEY ARE LYING.

Elections are already under the auspices of the Congress, per the U.S. Constitution:

Article 1, Section 4

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations.

It's mindless fodder to rile up their masses. 33% buy the shit, 33% know it's shit and 33% are asleep.

Democrats in the Senate had better point that out.

When the US Supreme Court struck down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act regarding pre-clearance, they deferred it to Congress to strengthen it. The House did that, but Republicanshe in the Senate refuse.

Guess who said this?

"When problems arise in the administration of elections we have a responsibility to fix them. Every registered voter deserves to have confidence that the system is fair and elections are honest, that every vote is recorded, and that the rules are consistently applied." https://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20021029-1.html

Hmmm sounds very egalitarian. Definitely not a GOPer. But wait it is W Bush (appointed by Supreme Court Not elected president). He said it when he passed the misnamed Help America Vote Act in 2002. Apparently GOPers are all too happy to "fix" the voting system when they can put in an unaccountable corporation's machine to miscount votes. But God forbid we let people vote without bureaucratic red tape to get tangled in. They are such liars. They already "federalized" elections.

From PBS website:

A key issue [leading to the Civil War] was states' rights. The Southern states wanted to assert their authority over the federal government so they could abolish federal laws they didn't support, especially laws interfering with the South's right to keep slaves and take them wherever they wished.

Does any other country allow states to manipulate elections?
