Too gerrymandered to win. He took Most of the biggest cities but the Red burbs killed us.
Although I will say a Lot of young people really seem to like him. The last 3 Beto rally’s I attended (last election) has loads of young Latinos at all of them.

'Texas county rejects half of mail-in ballot applications amid new voter restrictions.' The Guardian, Jan. 15, 2022. -Ed. Denied ballots follow trend across state after Republicans imposed new rules following Trump’s baseless fraud claims.

Election officials in the Texas county that includes the state capital, Austin, have rejected about half of applications for mail-in ballots, following new voting restrictions brought in by Republicans. The voter identification rules have led to the rejection of about half of the 700 mail-in ballots requested in Travis County for primary elections in March, according to the county’s clerk.

The denied ballots in Travis County follow a similar trend across Texas, with officials in Harris County, which includes the city of Houston, and Bexar County, which includes San Antonio, also turning down a substantial number of mail-in ballot applications. Republicans in several states have sought to impose voting restrictions in the wake of baseless allegations of voter fraud by Donald Trump, the twice-impeached former president who has struggled to accept the reality that he was beaten fairly by Joe Biden in last year’s presidential election.

In Texas, state Republicans last year enacted new voting laws that require absentee voters to include their driver’s license number, state ID number or the last four digits of their social security number on their applications. Counties then have to match this information with voter profiles to approve them for a mail-in ballot. The new rules also ban drive-through and 24-hour voting and allow more access to partisan poll watchers...

A dollar that goes to Beto’s doomed campaign can’t help a Democrat in a real, competitive race.

From the very people who froze our state in 2021. Industry will back Greg Abbott. However, Greg Abbott also has challengers in his own party. Hopefully that challenge will weaken him. Plus we still have the winter of 2022 to deal with and Greg Abbott has done very little to fix our energy grid.

Beto will continue to receive donations, and of course they will be from the little guy, the VOTERS!

Did he turn down a lunch with you or something?

Beto raised his $7.2 million in 46 days.

Abbott raised his $18.9 million in six months.

And this isn't the first time you've posted something negative about Beto; therefore, I asked, why you seem intent on personally tearing down this one particular Democratic candidate?

I believe Beto was within two or three percentage points of winning his statewide Senate race and even if he were to lose this time around, it won't be more than maybe eight points or so; are you telling me you haven't donated to candidates that have lost by eight or more points before?

Greg is having to spend a ton of money for the Texas primary to hold off Allen West, Don Hufines and Rick Perry (not the former governor)

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke raised $7.2 million in the first 46 days of his campaign, while Republican incumbent Greg Abbott raked in $18.9 million over the last six months as his war chest topped $65 million......

The figures confirm what has long been considered the case: O'Rourke is a strong fundraiser, but he is up against a juggernaut in Abbott, at least when it comes to the money the governor has saved up. O'Rourke did not release his cash-on-hand number, but he was effectively starting from scratch when he launched his campaign in November, and his $7.2 million period means his cash on hand remains a fraction of Abbott's reserves. Abbott had $55 million saved up for his reelection campaign at the end of June.

O'Rourke's campaign said he got over 115,600 contributions over the 46-day period, while Abbott's team said it received nearly 159,000 donations from July through December. Abbott's campaign said it had an average contribution of "just over $119," while O'Rourke's team did not volunteer that number.

O'Rourke's latest fundraising number includes $2 million that his campaign said he collected within 24 hours of announcing his run. Expectations have been high for O'Rourke's fundraising after he proved a fundraising phenom during his 2018 run against U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, when he raised more than $80 million. O'Rourke was subject to federal campaign donation caps in that race; Texas has no such restrictions.

I have seen a couple dozen Greg ads attacking President Biden. The GOP Governor primary is going to get dirty
