So true. I even remember my 6th grade teacher warning us to do well in school or else we would end up "flipping burgers". And that was in the late '80's.

should try doing what I do. I'm a whole food, homemade fanatic. People that are working too hard and too many hours can't do it and won't even try. If they did, it's all they would do in their time off. They need those burger flippers and convenience store workers. It's ridiculous for people to think they should work hard and not have anything.

Being pushed by your parents to make certain decisions and then being blamed for them later.

Not dealing with the public. I am so done with being 60 and having some 40-60 yr old male puff his chest and be threatening to me because something did not work out just like he wanted. Or the screaming into a phone literally causing me pain.

And, having hot soup thrown on you because it's too hot. And, other various physical and verbal attacks from lunatic customers. Yes, why does no one want to flip burgers for chump change anymore?

bitch and complain how, insert food place here, isn't worth 15.00 and hour and it's meant to be a HS job not meant for adults. My response always is, you ever go grab a burger at one of the places during the work week at lunch? Response is ALWAYS , of course. My next statement is, well if it's during the school year, who is there taking your order, cooking your food and serving it to you since is only supposed to be a HS job? Close ALL food establishments down during school hours, since after all it's not meant to be an adult job, only school kids and watch the total melt down.

Time for BurgerBot 9000.

We're going to see an acceleration in automation in the next 5 years, especially with formerly low paying jobs. The cost of automation vs the cost of human labor equation has changed permanently

8. Shouldn't that bit about 'too good for you' ... be phrased in the reverse?
Tue Jan 18, 2022, 01:20 PM

Like 'are you too good to flip burgers?'

Remind me of another peeve I have ... when people reverse the order when using the phrase 'let alone'.

For example:
The team couldn't even score a touchdown all game long, let alone a field goal!

I see that kind of mistake ALL THE FREAKING TIME (not here so much, but ... elsewhere).

FYI in case you don't know, a Field Goal (3 points) is considerably easier to accomplish than a Touchdown (6 points) ... hence that statement is in the wrong order

Along with people using 'anymore' as if it were a synonym of 'nowadays'.

For example:
Anymore we go to the beach for vacation.

Shit drives me batty.

Thx for letting me vent
