The House select committee investigating the Capitol attack is weighing whether to subpoena some of Donald Trumps top allies on Capitol Hill as it considers its options on how aggressively it should pursue testimony to move forward its inquiry into the January 6 insurrection.
The Republican House minority leader, Kevin McCarthy, and Republican members of Congress Jim Jordan and Scott Perry may have inside knowledge about Trumps plan to stop the certification of Joe Bidens election and whether it was coordinated with the Capitol attack.
But the outright refusal of McCarthy and the other Republican lawmakers to testify voluntarily with the investigation has intensified discussions among the panels members and investigators about whether to force their cooperation.

Sad reality is that they're going to successfully run out the clock, at least on the House investigation.
Nothing has changed my view that there will be no accountability where it matters.

(21,359 posts)if DOJ is waiting for referrals from the select committee before it acts the game clock expires. Everything the select committee does now will have to go clear to the SC.
The select committee's referral of Mark Meadows has been sitting at DOJ for 34 days.
