Dr. Raul Pino, who became a trusted voice of the pandemic response in the nations tourist capital, has been placed on administrative leave from his post as the states chief health officer in Orange County as the Florida Department of Health conducts an investigation.
Sources who spoke to the Orlando Sentinel on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss Pinos status said he was placed on administrative leave after a Health Department employee complained about an email he sent Jan. 4 to agency staff about employee vaccination rates.
Pino, 58, declined to discuss the Health Departments action, but an agency spokesperson confirmed his status.
As the decision to get vaccinated is a personal medical choice that should be made free from coercion and mandates from employers, the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave, and the Florida Department of Health is conducting an inquiry to determine if any laws were broken in this case, spokesperson Weesam Khoury said in an email Tuesday. The Department is committed to upholding all laws, including the ban on vaccine mandates for government employees and will take appropriate action once additional information is known.

I am disgusted at the stance the so-called Health Department is taking in this case.

DeSantis is refusing to face reality by allowing "personal choice" for getting vaccines.
How dumb can you get?

(13,776 posts)2. well, gee, what would a health officer know about health?
Of course, if he were a Trump or DeSantis appointee, the answer would be nothing.
But MY GOD WHAT KIND OF HELLSCAPE ARE WE LIVING IN when a health officer is put on leave for saying that people should get an FDA-approved vaccination???? THIS IS INSANE.
I can't imagine what it's like to be a normal person living in Florida these days.

Soviets perfected this- the censorship or promotion of sound science wholly for political purposes.
...using Soviet propaganda to portray him as a genius who had developed a new, revolutionary agricultural technique. Lysenko's resulting popularity gave him a platform to denounce theoretical genetics and to promote his own agricultural practices. He was, in turn, supported by the Soviet propaganda machine, which overstated his successes, cited faked experimental results, and omitted mention of his failures
