Despite Our Best Efforts COVID Has Entered Our Bubble

We did pretty much everything right. Vaxxed and boosted. Masked and hands washed to the point of desert-like dryness. Even entering my sister's home for a holiday open house in December and being exposed to non-vaccinated people didn't cause us a problem (thank goodness). We caught a break there.

We had a huge storm with driving rain and 60-70 mph winds that did substantial damage to our roof. Ceiling and walls in 3 rooms damaged as well. Had to make an insurance claim. Our carrier, who has turned out to be NOT such a "good neighbor" assured us that all their adjusters were vaccinated and they would take all proper precautions when entering our home. Adjuster turned out to be a total ass, basically telling us what he couldn't do rather than what he could. Tracked mud all over our new carpet. You get the gist. But I digress. Four days after he was at our house our agent called to tell us the adjuster was "in the hospital" and we'd be getting a new adjuster. You guessed it. He's positive for COVID.

Fast forward 4 days and my DH is now coughing and sneezing. No fever or body aches to speak of. All in all his symptoms are mild. He got tested today and we are awaiting results. I'm sitting here, asthmatic and diabetic, feeling like I'm surrounded by wolves (germs) just waiting to pounce.

Needless to say we are quarantined. Children and grands are staying away. NO ONE is coming in this house. Groceries and packages on the porch. Oh well, it's 18 degrees -- I didn't want to go out anyway.

Stay safe, my friends!

During your quarantine, go after your "good neighbor" and make them pay EVERY cent of your damage claim and perhaps more. I would send your agent a fierce email, documenting all of this and pix of the muddy carpets. And most especially your insurance company's sending the first adjuster over.

Sounds like they’re just so casual about it.

They say, your adjuster is in the hospital with Covid, so we’ll just get you a new one. No biggee.

I've been sneezing and hacking for weeks, but keep testing negative. The doctor says it's allergies.
Hope it's something minor for your family!
And that your house is back together too!

What a bad month, huh?

vaccines and everything else. But this is still an airborne virus, and it's super contagious. So many of my family and friends in NYC got this while masking and taking precautions. So don't feel bad or that you did anything "wrong" here. You live in a society, took precautions, but still got this!

I am really hoping that the vaccines will protect you and the worst symptoms any of you will feel is what your husband is experiencing now. Most of my friends who had the booster had similar mild symptoms. one had a fever for two days. But nobody had to go to the hospital, including my diabetic MIL and FIL.

Best of luck to you. Peace and try to really enjoy some downtime enjoying TV, books and movies.

https://www.businessinsider.com/omicron-common-symptoms-vs-other-variants-charts-2022-1

I had a scratchy, burny throat for several days with copious sneezing, and I don't have allergies. Way more sneezing than any other cold I've had. It went into a runny nose, and eventually a bronchial cough. It's been over two weeks now, and the symptoms are gradually going away.

I though I'd finally gotten Covid, omicron variant, so went to Kaiser for a PCR test. It was negative. I have to say, I was surprised.

You've had the actual exposure though, I sure hope it goes easy on both of you.

you both don’t get really sick. Just is not fair that we still have this virus. If people would of just complied we wouldn’t be in the shape we are in now.
Sending a prayer your way and hope you get some rest.

My wife and I are both two shots with boosters. She went to visit our new granddaughter last weekend. We thought they were being careful because of the new baby. Dad, mother, granddaughter, and my wife all have covid. I work ski patriol in the winter, on the hill today. One of my coworkers today tested positive for covid after spending the entire day working ski patrol. He came to work sick! How many have we heard that!

and I tell them this before they enter. I have the real N95s on hand if anyone says they don't have one. A plumber came into my home and he wore the N95 without any problem. Maybe since I live in a blue area and he is from Boston we were both OK doing this.

my sister-in-law, who lives close by, tested positive, after having to fly to Atlanta, during Covid, enduring canceled and delayed flights, for a meeting that lasted one hour so each participant could vote on who the next boss was going to be. Something that could have easily been done remotely. Now, 4 people out of 15 in that meeting have Covid. She is vaxxed and boosted and is not doing well.

Hopefully everyone understands that Covid is here forever. Those of us fairly healthy will get vaccinated each season just like with the flu. And we will become infected and recover. Those who are compromised will have to live the rest of their lives in a double mask, even with family at home.

It is what it is, eventually Covid becomes endemic but its not going anywhere, ever.
