Clearly romney doesn't have anything like the spine of his father, but I guess we've known that for a while.

2. Collins and Romney opposed the bill due to the gerrymandering and dark money provisions.

Republicans have almost no chance of winning the House if partisan gerrymandering is outlawed so they are strongly opposed to anything that bans it. Then there are the provisions to shine some light on the dark money proliferating politics and Republicans want to shield their donors from that light due to all of unpopular positions Republicans support which their donors won't support publicly.

I don't think either one cares one way or another about the VRA reauthorization of the national holiday or registration and advance voting provisions. It's all about power and money for them.
