1. There is absolutely nothing that says a candidate for president can't be indicted

What am I missing, he will surely be indicted before 3 years.

If the candidate commits a crime, yes he or she could be arrested. However, it would be a scary precedent , unless the evidence is overwhelming. From a political perspective, it would appear as if the authority that arrested him or her was preventing a candidate from challenging an incumbent candidate. What would stop an incumbent president from inventing charges against a serious challenger. Trump tried to have Ukraine announce an investigation of Biden‘s activities, even though there was no evidence of a crime. If some local US authority charged a presidential candidate, the evidence would have to be obvious and overwhelming, but even then would give rise to the charge that the arrest was politically motivated.

No more being conciliatory to him or any other republican, it is time to live under the rule of law for everybody.

and I can see the DOJ refusing to get involved at that point as they do not want (what a pile of pig shit btw) 'appear to be putting their thumb on the scale of the elections'
