Not even close...it is essentially the Democratic Party calling her a naughty girl. A five year old suffers greater consequences from a time-out.
From Wikipedia:
"In the United States, governmental censure is done when a body's members wish to publicly reprimand the president of the United States, a member of Congress, a judge or a cabinet member. It is a formal statement of disapproval.[2] It relies on the target's sense of shame or their constituents' subsequent disapproval, without which it has little practical effect when done on members of Congress and no practical effect when done on the president."
She has no shame; and her constituents who didn't already know her position, likely still don't and quite likely don't give two shits because they're all freaked out over the price of gas.
Just an opinion...

(25,515 posts)The censure will carry wait in the 2024 primary. Her opponents can use it against her in ads. Groups won't endorse her etc. People won't donate etc.
Maybe they're hoping the censure changes her behavior in the near future, but I doubt it.
Otherwise, it doesn't mean anything.
We censured someone.
He resigned a few weeks later.
Then a Republican won a special election.

(53,833 posts)It just about guarantees she'll be a one-term senator though as she'll be primaried in '24. Polls show just 8 percent of Dems view her favorably...just 8 percent.
Too bad, so sad. Not. The one who thinks she's the smartest one in the room has outsmarted herself. All she had to do is vote for her own party's and president's agenda and she'd just about be assured of re-election.
Guess she can go back to being a Green and run for president on their ticket and take votes away from Democrats...always the raison d'etre of that party, and what's she's already doing anyway.

(7,852 posts)if she switches party's she loses her power to co-opt Joe and the Dem agenda...and she can say good-bye to the media will-she-or-won't-she narrative..right now she's Mitch's show-pony but if she switches party's she and her mean girl Cruella costume shtick will not be tolerated..she'll be shoved to the "back of the bus" and forgotten...Sinema, the poster child for the Dunning-Kruger effect, will never allow that to happen..

(81 posts)but the Arizona Democratic Party, an non-gov independent political org. This does have real world consequences for Sinema in terms of funding, access to party resources such as mailing lists/outreach as well as funding limitations placed affiliate organizations that align with the party. This is the local funding source for her run essentially saying do not expect any assistance from us as our efforts will be directed in support of a primary challenger. She already has a huge war chest but the state party has now opened the floodgates for funding challengers instead of the incumbent.

(22,270 posts)gearing up for the primary challenge already. Of course until after this Nov, their main focus is keeping Senator Mark Kelly in office and holding the Democratic House Seats.
Rep Ruben Gallego seems to be the likely challenger. I think he would be a great Senator.

(3,943 posts)It looks petty like when the Republicans censured Liz Cheney. Just my opinion.

(26,757 posts)She has three more years and we still need her vote for at least one of them.
How does a temper tantrum make it more likely that well get her vote next time?
brush
(53,833 posts)to suddenly vote like a Democrat next time. She's made it clear who she is and that she votes with the republicans.

WTF
Me.
(35,454 posts)with her big donors who have told her to clean up her act or...they will stop the cash flow, support a primary candidate and, ask for their money back.
FBaggins
(26,757 posts)And is there some rule that ask for their money back needs to be honored?

(10,279 posts)we can gain 2 more DEMs that will support President Biden on the tough votes.
If we lose 1 of them, McConnell becomes Majority Leader. Then nothing, including judges, get through.
