Democrats adored him and a lot of Republicans liked him. In 2004 there were Bush and Feingold yard signs on the same lawns.

But I remember many absolutely scathing attack ads against him on the radio and TV. The GOP threw a lot of money at the race and totally demonized Feingold. The truth is - a lot of people do their voting research by watching ads. Especially the low information voters, and we have a lot of those.

He was ahead in the polls before the election and lost by something like 80,000 votes. I always thought were some voting shenanigans but nobody pursued it. The Wisconsin Republican party is pure evil.

They beat us like a drum nationally in popular total vote by almost 7%.

The 2010 Red Tide dwarfed our 2018 Blue Wave.

Johnson appealed to the rural voters, making vague promises he knew damn well he never could keep.

Nowadays he's a semi-regular being ridiculed at outlets like "Crooks And Liars" and "Media Matters."

His total stupidity regarding covid shows this.

No forgiveness for that.

But we can forget...only if Wisconsin votes him out this time.

I know there are good Dems in that state, for whatever reason they are being stifled. Hats off to them.

And BTW - we went to Duluth for vacation this past summer - but did not spend a single dime in Wisconsin and only spent as much time in it as driving there provided. Did not get gas, did not buy snacks or food, did not pass go. Did not give $200. If it goes Blue again, we will stop the boycott.

Republican owned businesses don't care about your boycott. Glad it makes you feel better though.

Nothing related to Ron Johnson.

I was a college kid, returning home to Panama after the end of a semester. I had packed my suitcase in the usual manner. Nothing special. But I hadn't noticed that a push-pin from a bulletin board had fallen into the pile. So when I reached the Panamanian terminal, I get pulled over by the Panamanian customs officer and he opens the suitcase. I see him moving my clothes around and, as a young woman, I was very much aware of my bikini panties packed in the suitcase. May not seem like a big deal today, but Panama is far more conservative than the USA.

So the young customs guys looks at me and he says what I thought was, "Panti rojo." Or red panties. I was so embarrassed. But I pretended I didn't hear him, and it was a good thing because he said it again, only this time, I heard him say, "Anti-robo." He had seen the tack and made a joke of it, calling it an anti-robbery gadget.

Ha-ha. I grabbed my suitcase and fled.

But, boy, today I can really appreciate the humor of latin America. Another time, my sister and I were in an elevator, and as the doors opened my sister was caught in mid yawn by two latin American men who were waiting for the elevator. As we sheepishly walk out, one man says to the other, "Casi me traga." (She almost swallowed me.)

God, I miss those good natured exchanges.
