This constant ranting by News outlets about inflation pisses me off.

I guess folks have adjusted to getting ZERO interest on their savings and money market accounts. God knows what folks are getting on CD accounts. If you're not in the stock market, you're LOSING money. I remember when 5% interest was the standard and the economy was just fine, thank you very much. We need to bring back standards in news reporting and do it fast.

Fact: Inflation is rising, faster than it did previously.

Fact: People are being impacted by rising costs.

Fact: People take that into account when voting.

The TV was tuned to a local news channel, and the guy doing my fillings said inflation was not being talked about enough on the news, to which the tech agreed.

Now it's pretty much all the media is talking about.

This is top of mind for many Americans, who have naturally put the blame on Biden, and they probably don't know that he's actually been doing what he can to bring it under control.

Covid has done a world of damage to international trade and manufacturing and produce. The world relies on shipping lines to provide and move products around. Well covid is impacting that too. These morons that think that Biden can somehow magically stop it are driving me f****** crazy.

Better yet this is interesting. In late 2019 or maybe right before covid in 2020 I asked a local auto dealer how much to install fog lamps on my car. It was $300 for the lights and installation. They are plug and play. I asked them 2 months ago the same question and it was $650. That's b******* they're raising the prices just because they can. So covid is playing a role but greed is playing a bigger role. The lights are still $200.

Oh I looked up those lights that the dealer said we're still $200 no they're $70 now.

Antitrust and anti-gouging. That would be nice.

Guarantee you that they're labor did not go from 100 to $400.

I think they're doing it because they can do it and people are dumb enough to pay it. Does that make it legal yes. Does that make it ethical not in my opinion but then again I think my ethics are not exactly the same as everybody else's ethics.

to complain about which is what a lot of the inflation complaining is about.

Why didn't they charge $400 to install a plug and play lights in the front of the car in 2019? Probably because no one would ever pay for it.

Now that the world's gone mad I suppose there's a couple of fools that will.

And I'll probably just either do it myself now or have the non dealer mechanic down at the end of the street install ones I buy online.

When it comes to price controls I was thinking more on the lines of when there was a milk trust and a beef trust and cheese trust in the early 20th century which were then busted up.

The local Republican owned dealership isn't exactly a trust.

Edit - inflationary pressures in groceries have not really hit our household that hard because of the type of diet we have. Other inflationary things have not hit us hard because we have not had to buy a car or a house in the last 10 years.

Just because you want your bank interest to go up. The inflation we have seen in food prices hits everyone. It needs to slow whether you get more in your CDs or not.
