With the new "parents' rights" concepts being touted in several states, one has to ask:

why require any specific degree or training or certification for teachers?

If all parents are competent to decide WHAT to teach, HOW to teach it and what facts are NEVER TO BE MENTIONED in a classroom, which child gets promoted and which is held back, then ANYONE should be able to be hired as a teacher.

Obviously, this will eliminate all racism and guarantee that all children will be heterosexuals who profess the "right" religion and mature into "good guys with guns". What could go wrong?

This solves so many problems it is a mystery why no one thought of it before the Florida Man made it his policy and other governors saw the attention it got him.

Who knows? Maybe 2 plus 2 really does equal 5.

If the average Joe knows more and the best way to proceed on any topic, what is the point of spending all that time and money to get advanced degrees?

Republicans say that they want "parental input" and "transparency" but what they are really trying to implement is make it so THEIR people- MAGAs, Qs- can create havoc in the schools with any and all curriculum that THEY disagree with and don't want taught. The obvious solution in all of this is for "concerned parents" to pull their kids out of school and home school them or send them to private schools (on their own dime) so that they can indoctrinate them in whatever "woo" they want to promote.

This happened because we've told people that their beliefs matter and must be acknowledged and respected.

Fuck these idiots who are so idiotic that they don't realize to what extent their idiocracy is idiotic.

If there's one group of people who will band together to fight against the betterment of any child except their own, it's the parents of school aged children.

Been there. Done that.

These helicopter parents can fuck up a high school curriculum but in the end, colleges have entrance requirements. If they manage to erase math and science requirements at a high school, their kids will never get accepted by an accredited college.
