Who said Democrats and police can't find common ground?

I don't know why Democrats can't seize the one issue where Democrats and the police force stand side by side, and the Republicans do not: Gun Control.

Why aren't ads being made to show how we want to protect the lives of our men and women in blue, by giving them a fighting chance against the crazies out there who have purchased so many guns, the overflow is spilling out on the streets?

And so forth. They appreciated it. They just turned on him when the national Republican party went after him. Firefighters too

now is the time for Biden to hand in his goodwill chips and restrengthen his ties on an issue that everyone that supports him, will support.

by democratic administrations, so there is a long history of Democrats and police departments that have worked together for many years.

In the STLMO and KCMO areas, the democratic administrations of both cities tried to invoke some sort of gun control (or are in process of attempting to do so), in order to try and gain some control over gun violence. Of course, the repugs (statewide) forced the city administrations to roll back or discontinue such efforts. The same thing happened when these cities tried to get a higher minimum wage rate too, and once again, the republican thugs forced the cities to roll back these efforts.

…to go from protesting police for murdering people to asking for legislation that bans certain guns we say are only good for murdering people from everyone but the cops; whom we protest for murdering people.

Is that it is a fiction.

Police want guns out of the hands of criminals but do not mistake that as blanket support for gun control.

In general the things police support (better background checks, more disqualifying conditions, decent training classes to get a carry permit) match those supported by the majority of gun owners and the general public. Only the fringe opposes these measures.

Unfortunately when such legislation is proposed it does satisfy everyone. Amendments are added to add a pet ban, speeches about how this will be a "first step" and so on by zealous control proponents.

That erodes support for the popular proposals. Rather pulling back those who are zealous do not prefer 'half a sandwich'. If they can't have everything they will accept nothing.

And a lot of the rogue comes from the constitution of the human being wearing the badge.

A Trumper with a badge is apt to cause trouble because their view of their community is so skewed.
