You know who should replace Breyer?

A qualified young liberal who can and will make a difference. No one to spite the GQP, Thomas, or any other ridiculous person. Biden will select and highly qualified person. Sorry kinda irritated looking at ridiculous threads about appointing someone to make a point.

I trust President Biden to do it correctly

who hasn't seen the inside of a courtroom in at least 20 years, has never been a judge, and wouldn't take the job anyhow because he knows it's not his thing. Anyhow, Biden has promised to nominate a Black woman, and there is a short list that includes five or six highly qualified sitting judges. Why not trust him to appoint the right person?

I think she is. She would be a great choice, in my humble opinion. (Yes, I know, being a lawyer is not a requirement for the court.)

Another great choice would be Loretta Lynch. The former U.S. attorney general under Obama. I'm surprised I haven't heard anybody mention her. She's in her 60s though, and I would prefer somebody who's about 35 or 40 who'll be there for 50 years.

in at least 20 years, and she's never been a judge. She has also made it abundantly clear that she is not interested in a high-profile government position. What's wrong with the distinguished sitting judges who are already on Biden's short list? Why do we need a famous, popular political celebrity with no relevant experience when there are so many highly qualified people who are currently active as judges?

I was just wondering why I haven't heard anybody mention Obama or Lynch. That doesn't mean I don't like those other judges. I would think Loretta Lynch would be an obvious choice, although, as I noted, she is in her 60s and I would prefer somebody who's about 40 who will be there for 50 years.

The only reason I'm not going with Anita Hill or Barack Obama is that they'll only serve on the court for three decades tops.

We need her in the Governor's race. And she hasn't been a practicing attorney for more than 15 years (and her practice wasn't really SCOTUS preparation level either).

Just another silly idea.

Biden doesn't need two confirmation battles -- one for SCOTUS and one to confirm a new VP. And since it takes a majority of both the House and Senate to confirm a new VP, if Harris is confirmed, there won't be a VP to break a 50-50 deadlock on her replacement.

So anyone who suggested it is just trolling or is very uninformed about the process that it would set in motion.

And for those who say "it's just fun or a joke"... go joke about something else. This kind of nonsense actually gets out there and you end up with people taking it seriously. There's nothing at all funny about the political situation in the US right now.

gorsuch turns 55 in August.

All 3 are going to be there forever.
