Nikole Hannah-Jones: The White is always silent

The convos about Black women & the Supreme Court is just another demonstration of how the white is always silent. Generations where white and male was the primary qualification. 84 percent of the judges Trump appointed were white, but because he didn't say white, it's cool.

Does anyone believe that the field of Black women being considered are unqualified? Are not equally qualified? Are not, based on what we know about how overachieving Black people have to be to even be considered, most qualified?

Trump was nominating white male judges to the federal bench who had been ranked as unqualified by the ABA. What was their primary qualification, then?

This is literally why CRT exists. A system that from 1790 to 1967 made being white and male an explicit qualification, where a Black woman has never served even as the first BW passed the bar in 1872, but it's considered discriminatory to explicitly address that history.

I'll say this again: White Americans have been, and continue to be, the largest beneficiaries of affirmative action in American history.

No one losing their minds over the threat of CRT or the 1619 project has the ability to understand these simple points.

The former guy nominated a bushel basket of judges (who sailed through to confirmation) who were rated as unqualified by the American Bar Association. In another amazing incidence of collective amnesia, the popular media have forgotten all about that, leaving the very pertinent question raised by Ida Bae Wells hanging unanswered.

because it would be a violation of civil rights laws since he is not allowed to eliminate people because of race and gender. As if Trump did not discriminate in favor of all white appointees. He never even considered a black or Hispanic person.

Some commenters have even said that Biden discriminating against Hispanic and Asian people because they do not have a position on the court. The small mindedness of people in this country continues unabated.
