Since we've known from early on that elderly people are most likely to die from Covid,

and we've been so many R's dismiss those deaths on that basis, maybe the anti-vax and anti-mask propaganda is a deliberate attempt on the part of some conservative organizations to kill off old people.

The giant Baby Boomer generation has hit retirement age, the age to collect Social Security. Rather than raising taxes to shore up the Social Security "trust fund" (which has been raided over the decades for other governmental purposes), I bet some of these think tank and dark money people have decided the simplest thing to do is kill old people off, by steering them away from vaccines and masks. If more elders in red states happen to die -- as they are -- great. That's what they want. They just wish they could get more old people in blue states to die, too.

They're just focused on reducing the burden to Social Security. A dead person isn't drawing Social Security checks.

The financial health of Social Security will be helped by deaths from Covid-19, Social Security Administration Chief Actuary Stephen Goss told Congress today.

As in most recessions, Social Security’s finances will be weakened by the increased burden from some people applying for benefits earlier because they have lost their jobs, Goss noted. “However, unlike in most economic recessions, the potential effects from increased Social Security benefit applications will be partially offset by increased deaths among our beneficiaries due to the pandemic,’’ he said. He added that it was too soon to determine how the pandemic will play out and the relative effects on the economy and longevity.

And old people are the most reliable voting bloc. I don't think that's it, since plenty of the MAGAts seem perfectly willing to kill themselves to own the libs (people needing organ transplants who won't get vaccinated, for example). No doubt there are those who don't give a crap if Granny gets covid, but I don't think it's on account of Social Security so much as because they're just mean.

They are killing off their own base.

It doesn't matter who votes.

Who counts the votes is more important.

those ancient volunteer election judges that just about all polling places rely on? They'll need poll volunteers who will do what they can to get GOP votes counted, and what if they're all dead?

If anything they're going for the Look at all the Covid deaths under Biden, and don't give a rat's ass that it's grandpa and grandma that they're killing to make the point.

Logically, they have to be killing so much more of their own supporters...it defies logic at the same time !

And if I were a Republican, I might feel guilty about consuming without earning. But, I'm a Democrat, so I am enjoying retirement, social security, medicare, cheap beer at the American Legion hall, discounted golf, and voting.

Wait, "Republicans ... feel guilty about consuming without earning"? Bwahahahahahahahahahaha

But I still think that many older white people are republicans and represent the base for republicans, to the extent that killing them off early would not be in republicans' best interests.
