a vietnam every month

It is just so beyond reality that america could lose 50,000 people a month and the death toll be met with apathy from a vast segment of society. Since December 2020, except for a few months respite in the summer of 2021 the pace has been a fairly steady 50,000 a month. After all, what is a barely .025 % death toll of over 300 million people when stacked against all the money those in power are raking in. How can vietnam compare, or even abortion the death penalty or even guns, to the distraction and divisiveness that the pandemic has given them. if you ask, why are so many powerful people working to help covid along, this seems a big part of the answer.

Now Covid deaths.

The GOP tells us we cannot do anything to stop the deaths.
"Freedom" is more important.

I’m pretty sure a lot of the labor shortage is because of all the people who have died. Sure, lots of them were old. But not all of them. And because of not being able to afford to retire, lots of old people still work. Those who don’t believe in the vaccine or masks are dropping like flies. Lots of jobs are opening up and employers can’t find people to replace them without paying more.

There are also a lot of people who are temporarily out of the labor market because of being sick with Covid. Some may never return to work.

Also, this may drive companies that are still doing drug testing for positions that aren’t safety sensitive to loosen their standards and quit drug testing.

When the pandemic started I was 61 but didn’t CHOOSE to hunker down. I was a substitute teacher and an Uber driver. Both of those jobs sort of went away overnight. I got unemployment for a while but knew it wouldn’t last forever. Now I work from home at a virtual call center. I started doing Uber again but only once a week after I was vaccinated. I did get Covid but it was mild (although that’s like saying bad flu - I was sick and missed 2 weeks of work. ) I can’t wait till I’m 66 because I have been told that if I wait till 66 I can get Social Security and still work without penalty. Then if I get sick I still have some income.

That seems to be the process and dangers of normalization.

They're just like the Military Industrial Complex, they DON'T CARE how many people die as long as they
can make money off of it.
