Anyone watching Nicolle? Dan Goldman just said he admires the Fulton Co. DA for taking on the crime to overturn our election. He then said that she should not be doing this, DOJ should be in the lead on this because Georgia is just one piece of the puzzle. Goldman said he is puzzled why DOJ is not taking the lead in Georgia?
Goldman went on to say his opinion about the news that the select committee may give immunity to people like Jeffrey Clarke to garner his testimony is mind boggling. Goldman said there is a lot of evidence out there that Clarke committed crimes. He said if we see the select committee offering people immunity then that means that DOJ has no interest in prosecuting them.
This isn't from me, it's coming from Dan Goldman.
Today is day 51 since DOJ received the Mark Meadows criminal referral.

(36,470 posts)Danial Goldman, for those who have forgotten, is known for being Democratic lead counsel during the first impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump.

(9,958 posts)... it was interesting. On the bit about Clarke. I recall another report saying the committee must have insisted he appear in person; unlike others, they did not allow him to "zoom" testify. The lawyers thought that meant they were interested in his in person demeanor (seeing deception). So, that made me think they are interested in prosecuting... so, they must have enough on him to get him in person, even if it's just to plead the 5th. Now, if they are not focused on Clarke, they must be after bigger fish in the swamp.

It takes some courage to speak about this.

(11,296 posts)Differed. I too trust Dan G, he knows how to prosecute. He should be AG,
gab13by13
(21,350 posts)he wrote a memo where he wanted to replace AG Rosen and send out bogus info about election fraud. There are 2 more pieces of evidence I can't recall. The best way to deal with Clarke is to prosecute him and let him be faced with big jail time, that's the way to get him to flip not by giving him immunity, he is a slime ball.

(21,350 posts)People are going to come out and proclaim we have to GOTV, we have to come out in massive numbers to overcome their cheating.
I have an idea what will make people enthused to GOTV, holding the traitors accountable, indicting the Big Fish.
I am scared also, that DOJ is more concerned with not appearing partisan.
DOJ needs to convene a special grand jury, just like it did for Watergate.

(13,571 posts)GOP has no interest in a legitimate election process from now on.
gab13by13
(21,350 posts)they will cheat when they certify who won.
We assume they can't cheat in 2022 for statewide races, I don't assume that at all. I can envision crooked election officials tossing ballots from Philadelphia who were voting for John Fetterman.

(21,350 posts)Not one person in the United States took McVeigh's side. He blew up the federal building that contained a day care center, he murdered a bunch of kids. Everyone in the US wanted justice to be served.
The only answer I see now, at this late date, is convening a special grand jury, just like Watergate.

(18,125 posts)Prosecuting McVeigh was a popular move. Prosecuting Trump would be a political nightmare.

No clock was ticking, with growing sedition and violence and intent to overthrow the republic.
It was very different.
