Dan Pfeiffer: Its easy to gloss over what the Republicans do in a Trumpian fog of outrage. But we need to be crystal clear about the meaning of this resolution. One of Americas two political parties passed an official resolution declaring a violent insurrection that led to deaths, assaults on police officers, and calls for the murder of politicians to be legitimate discourse.

(9,382 posts)They've been going down this road for a while now. It's not awful. They've doomed themselves to this role. The question is whether it can be stopped. I think it can, though unfortunately, I think the up-and-coming younger generation will do it. For now, the rest of us will have to suffer. And hopefully not die because of it.

(1,200 posts)States the 60% of Republicans still support the idea Biden didnt win, and Jan 6 wasn't an insurrection. But that not a single one needs to be convinced differently when voting in November for Dems to win. Or really any R.
Its independents, and most believe Jan 6 was an insurrection and that's not "legitimate discourse".
So it's messaging, on our behalf.
The fact that the RNC did this is abhorrent. We just need that as a talking point. Maybe the biggest one.

(9,382 posts)Their cheerleading (as well as their popularity) helps the RNC keep alive the stupidity they spout. Repukelicans need to be voted and recalled out of office.

Lets Just Say It: The Republicans are the Problem
We have been studying Washington politics and Congress for more than 40 years, and never have we seen them this dysfunctional. In our past writings, we have criticized both parties when we believed it was warranted. Today, however, we have no choice but to acknowledge that the core of the problem lies with the Republican Party.
The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise;
unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.

Of course most don't believe this, but there are honest, decent people who have lots of money in the Republican Party, who will fight this crap. Why? Because this is crap, and awful crap at that. Some will come up to the surface and fight this. The fighters are organizing as this is written.
There is a very simple reason for the WAR THAT IS COMING TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY..
ONE REASON ONLY...IF YOU HAD MONEY, (LOTS OF MONEY) AND YOU WERE A REPUBLICAN.......................
....WOULD YOU WANT DONALD TRUMP TO BE YOUR LEADER?...A KILLER, A LIAR, AND TOTALLY
INCOMPETENT PERSON, WHO HAS PROVED HIS INCOMPETENCE DURING THE LAST 5 YEARS......?
What would you do if you had lots of money and cared deeply about your political party.? and....
You were Republican?
When the time is correct, we will know about them. No, I don't know when, but it ain't up to me. It is up to
those who will fight and win the war against Mr. Trump. Yes, Trump will lose, and others will take back their
political party.
Also ..1 More important reason for above WAR: Donald Trump doesn't care about anyone but himself.
...........No one else.................................................................................................
..........Trump cannot lead a party when other people must be taken into consideration.
........... Repeat: ..Donald Trump cares only about himself and not about any political party and no one else.

(1,182 posts)is Democrats have been putting up with a LOT of shit from Republicans for a LONG time. Nixon, Reagan, both Bushes. All pretty "lawless regimes" IMHO. Cover-ups, pay-offs, lying, gaslighting, and just willy nilly getting people killed for profit and power. Winning elections while actually LOSING the majority vote, again and again.
And yet now they are the ones claiming the system has somehow been corrupted!
Yeah, we know. Because YOU GUYS corrupted it!
